I agree that the likelihood of a failure is small, but it’s not impossible. Especially since automakers see subscriptions as a way to extract revenue beyond the original owner and from subsequent owners; who may well have the car decades after the warranty has expired.

True. They also made a wonderful V8; but that’s not the first thing most enthusiasts think of when they think of Alfa. Alfa hasn’t made a straight six in a long time; I’d argue that other brands (BMW, MB, Toyota, Jaguar) are more well known for their I6s. Alfa is particularly well known for their V6s. 

It’s not my thing, but ok I guess. I guess this fits with the current trend of performance SUVs in general, not just EVs. I’d love to see an “affordable” (aka: <$100k) EV focus more on reducing weight, rather than adding a ton of power and an array of systems to make a heavy vehicle hustle around a corner.

The Puma would have been a much better option than the Ecosport; but to be fair it would have been more expensive. 

I guess I’m just trying to remain hopeful that maybe not every EV SUV has to be a colossus. But you’re right, Dodge has never really been known to focus on light weight and it does not bode well based on what we see with the Charger. 

I don’t agree with you on the sealed beams, but yes, Tesla set a horrible precedent of tech laden vehicles (the crux of which being FSD and “robotaxis”, which haven’t actually materialized), eliminating physical controls, and going cheap on the interior materials. I’d argue that the Leaf is a bit of an outlier in the sense that it’s not the same as many of the more modern EVs in terms of weight and power. More modern EVs seem to chew through tires pretty quickly as a result of the increased vehicle weights and power.

And I’m not even sure what to say about an Alfa with a straight six. I mean, Alfa is one of the few brands that is famous for their V6 (especially in Europe). 

Actually I suspect that the Durango is probably going to ride on the exact same platform as the Charger; which means same dimensions and roughly the same weight. I mean, they couldn’t possibly want to make it any heavier could they?

Unpopular opinion, but I actually think the R34 is overrated (I actually feel the same way about the A80 Supra). They achieved “hero” status thanks to popular media, but they aren’t cars that should be trading hands for $100k+ in my opinion.
