No one cares about goal differential. Score 1000 goals, but at some point you should probably run back and act like you have been there before. Instead of celebrating scoring vs people who started playing yesterday.
I like this story because in a way it’s uniquely American. It’s about sporting excellence, pride in your accomplishments and not even pretending to understand the concept of moderation.
You know, go ahead and view the tape of that game, and report back to us on how many Canadian hockey players you see waving their fingers in the air counting how many goals they have, or break into a choreographed celebration.
your country has been on fire since 2016.
We should pelt them with batteries and beer bottles, like the proud long standing traditions that Americans uphold...
Up 8-0 and doing cartwheels on the sideline. If your whole career prides on the fact that you scored a finally scored a WC goal against an amateur team, congratulations.
You do realize that is not what the panel was criticizing. Their comments were about the celebrations, not the score.
While I agree that the commentary was a little dramatic from the Canadian Broadcast Team, the USWNT celebrations were a bit much, They are the dominate force in the game and should display a little more class than that especially when playing against a far inferior team that was just happy to be there for the first…

uh, God’s not really a big fan of calves, especially Golden ones
A team from outside the top 20...played poorly...in a warm-up match...for one half? No thanks.
If he did, it’d take effort, thus negating his effortless power. It’s a catch-22.
It’s kind of like NASCAR. A supposed hyper-masculine sport where nothing really happens except when there is a crash or someone’s head flies off.
You don’t recuperate brain injuries like that, not to the extent that these athletes are getting them. I think it’s pretty obvious at this point that the only way to avoid these brain injuries is to not get knocked in the fucking head.
This sport somehow manages to be both violent and boring.
When I was 13 I saw Ray Mancini kill DUk Koo-Kim live on TV. I haven’t watched a single boxing (or MMA) bout since. Yet I still watch college and NFL football all the time. I cannot justify it, it just is what it is.
Credit to MMA for taking some measures to protect its athletes, but I’m not convinced that a sport where you take dozens of sub-concussive hits and occasionally get knocked unconscious is safe for its athletes.
“Agree with all the replies noting the main difference is the cover up of TBI risk in football.”
Well, there’s another person who won’t be able to do much more than drool and wear an adult diaper in ten years if she keeps that up. And it was clear there was a lot of disabled brain function there for the few seconds of the clip they focused on her.
