That squid is hilarious by today’s standards, but for 1942? Not bad.

The Highwaymen.
TLDR Re-watch Sunshine instead.
R.I.P. Aron Eisenberg, “Nog” from Deep Space Nine, the best of all Star Treks.
I watched Booksmart, which was perfectly cute and sweet. I ended up identifying pretty hard with both characters in the party scene right before the fight, as I was both a closeted bi-kid and a fat weirdo. So I’ve lived that flirting and…
Saw ‘Ad Astra’ and yeah... I dunno. It’s exceptionally beautiful, well-acted all around, very tightly directed, contains some really original action set pieces, and I get all the main messages that come through, but honestly, I’m just not sure I care. With all the build-up, nothing really paid off all that…
SO besides checking out The Righteous Gemstones which has become even funnier thanks to the Jerry Falwell fiasco,
Everything is in disarray here, but I managed my two movie nights to spite the universe. I watched The Hellfire Club on Monday and First Spaceship on Venus two nights ago. I spent most of Hellfire Club struggling to figure out where I’d seen one of the actors. It was a young Compo!
Jack Langrishe was my favorite Deadwood character. I was sad he didn’t make it back for a scene in the movie.
I see the sinister hand of the Umbrella Corporation behind this as a first step to shutting out the competition.
I remember a video interview where Michael K. Williams was really excited about the role, and seemed to indicate he had it. I think he would have had a more interesting take than Foxx’s.
I feel like they should have gone with something else though. Foxx drained the charisma out of every scene he was in and it led to the movie losing all steam when Waltz and DiCaprio are gone.
The best part of Vice is Christian Bale by far, but I enjoyed the whole movie, as well. I realize it’s not a perfect retelling of the exact history of the time, but still a very entertaining watch. I hope Cheney gets thrown out of a plane at some point. He was the blueprint for the lawless motherfuckers running things…
So the eldest child calls me up, “Hey, want to go see It Chapter Two?” Sure. We both enjoyed it. Then read some reviews afterwards as I do try to avoid spoilers or attitude prior to seeing a film. Man, some people are really in desperate need of getting their heads removed from their own rectums. Yes, a gay man is…
Whole lotta chatter out there about Dave Chappelle’s latest comedy special, but there needs to be far more about Bill Burr’s ‘Paper Tiger’ on Netflix. He basically just walks around Royal Albert Hall for an hour cracking people in the back of the head with a baseball bat. Same ‘taboo’ topics, same basic approach, but…
Typical Toonami night. Only a few more weeks before a major schedule change. But before then, we get this masterful little music video starring David Tennant:
I spent my movie nights for the last two weeks on El Cid, in which a dead Charlton Heston defends Valencia from Herbert Lom covered in Kiwi boot polish, and on Onibaba. These movies make conflicting arguments. One is a celebration of honour and duty to King, Country, and the Eternal, and the other is a rejection of…
+1 pair of ragged claws scuttling across the floors of silent seas
“Reading your work made me feel like a patient etherized upon a table. Best of luck in your future endeavors!”
Noah Baumbach’s “Kicking and Screaming” never gets any love. That was a good early flick of his.
