Movies: - Finally saw The Hunt. Thought it was smartly written, well directed and fun to watch. And...very minor spoiler here...while one of the twist endings was sort of obvious, the second one was pretty clever. Despite all the partisan controversy, it does a decent job showing that political extremists on either

Between my eldest’s birthday on Friday and Mother’s day today not much time for any mindless p-cul consumption, Did manage to sneak in the first episode of The Stand on Saturday. Apart from general mid 90s cheesiness (Jamie Sheridans mullet is an all-timer), it holds up fairly well. Can only imagine the remake will be

Finally finished Picard. I wish this show was better. I loved seeing Patrick Stewart back at it but the rest of the characters and the big overall story was kinda lame. The Borg stuff seemed tacked on and went no where. Any tension in the ending was gone since they made not attempt to hide the fact that they were

I finished the final season of Future Man. I don’t know why I never saw the show before. It’s great.

Lucifer season 3 was a chore to watch.

I couldn’t sleep Firday night, and finally watched Bonding on Netflix. I expected more Darcy. I laughed some, but not as much as I expected. The short episodes mean i finished the season. Hooray!

(Minor spoilers for shows in bold, I guess)

I finally got around to finishing season 7 of Veep and that show really did fly off the rails completely.

After reading an article in a series on comfort movies I rewatched Grosse Point Blank for the not quite umpteenth time. Still fun.

For better or worse, Riverdale’s fourth season continued to Riverdale. Lots of audacious stuff happened, but I don’t want to give the impression that this makes it inherently good. Imagine if it was a cuckoo bananas as the Archie Comics instead of a dour murderfest! Riverdale forgot

I’ve mostly been reading - among the books this week was a good one on Reconstruction - but I did rewatch parts of two movies this week: On the Beach (the 1959 version) and Exit to Eden.

First off, despite the fact that he farts Nickelback songs, I will never talk shit about Guy Fieri ever again. Dude raised $20 million for restaurant workers affected by coronavirus.

My pop culture’ weekend largely revolved around that newly released pop single named ‘Eight’ that immediately rocketed to #1 in fifty countries, even hit #1 in the US itunes charts despite not being in English. The music video got 29 million views on Youtube in just 3 days.

Brisk, hour long walks for exercise. (fully masked) followed by a little house cleaning, and PLENTY of viewing. We’re balancing #blackAF, Never Have I Ever, Penny Dreadful, Billions, After Life, Killing Eve, Dead to Me, and Hollywood right now.... so needless to say, we have a lot of time on our hands and are viewing

I’ve been unsuccessfully trying to convince my friends who went through The Jejune Institute back in the day to check out Dispatches From Elsewhere. It’s kind of a tough sell as it all took place nearly a decade ago and not everyone experienced all four chapters.

I’ve got some tips for dating Natalie Dormer. PM me!

That movie is completely nonsensical.

Just finished watching the show. It was all pretty good.

You make a valid point and was also thinking of the throwdown between Abed and Hickey over the destroyed drawings. It opened up a level of conflict that hadn’t been explored much before (well, maybe when Pierce reacted angrily to being left out of D&D), but it came to nothing. Both characters retreated to their normal

I count myself lucky as having watched her films first without knowing about her death (my dad was a film buff with an impressive movie collection). She was just the classic movie actress to me and I only found about her tragic death when I was in my 30's.

So, I never saw her as a tragic figure when I’d be rewatching
