I'll admit.. that would be kindof cool.

As a tourist to NYC, but as a transit nerd, I can't recommend the transit museum enough.

that just ... does not seem healthy.

Moscow has a restored 1934-1935 subway car still in use.

If you are into the history of the NYC subway system nycsubway.org has tons of pics and lots of info. I have certainly spent way too much time there.

London Underground's Met Locomotive No 1 built 1896 only operates occasionally but one of the only steam locomotives left operating on subway lines!

Yes my 78 Econoline [cargo van] is a truck, that is why I own it. And yes the flex fan is noisy, but since it cost me about a few hundred bucks a year in care and feeding, so I don't want a Sprinter. Besides I have a 351W, 4 speed standard, with a 411 posi, so this van is something that is no longer available anymore

They aren't in regular service anymore, but until 2013 Buenos Aries had trains running on their Underground's line A that were built in 1911. They're still used for tourist services but not everyday runs.

the San Francisco Muni explicitly runs some historic streetcars, painted in the livery of their original cities of service. a quick bit of research shows some 1928 Peter Witt equipment, originally from Milano, Italy.

The Montreal metro system has been virtually the same since it began service in 1966. Not quite as old as NYC, but close.

Boston still runs some of their 1937 fleet on an above ground portion of their line, these cars used to run underground so i think they count.

Until last year, Buenos Aires' A Line had these belgian La Brugeoise wooden cars, which were built between 1911 and 1919 and started service in 1913. They have since been retired for new chinese CNR cars, but a couple have been converted to run on 1500V and will start a special tourist service on weekends.

We need a subway sub Kinja NOW.

A jump seat can be added and they still can carry a wheel chair user. So the best of both worlds are available, as the accessibility is seriously needed. We have created a large population of paralyzed veterans with the last two wars, and many of them are not medically allowed to drive due to the TBI aspect of IEDs,

Holy shit thank you! I see these around the U of M and I had no idea what they were.

It's like they're geniuses.

Somebody has a BS degree in BS!

Ford already makes a great taxi, or at least it makes the frame and mechanicals. It's called the MV-1 "Mobility Vehicle-1, and it can be found here:

Some type of dedicated ride share vehicle where people could share the cost of similar journey is long overdue.......
