I take very little from a solution to depression and anxiety that is largely out of reach for most people. With a family consisting of two little kids, I find it hard to gain inspiration from the privilege of being able to travel solo around the globe, dropping everything to find oneself. I need wisdom on how to get a

Not just that, but how about those of us in the real world? I have bills, two kids, medical issues and a job I need to keep. Can’t exactly fit all THAT in a hipster backpack, can I.

what’s weird though is i think dngrsone assumed you were a man - i don’t think anything in your original comment indicated that

All you gotta do is spend a few years saving (never mind if there are any issues along the way) and then just do it! You know, that helpful piece of advice that people trot out when they’re frustrated with you or totally don’t understand what you’re going through! Travel the earth and become vulnerable! Then blog

Probably because doing an out-patient psych program is less fancy than travelling. Who wants to hear about the glorious architecture of the hospital and the sad windowless office of my therapist? A 1 1/2 year wait list. Honestly, the out-patient thing was wayyyyyy more productive than whatever travelling does.

It was so generally vague and eyerolly to me. I found that I didn’t care about her at all. Some folks will love it, I just didn’t find anything in this article that spoke to me on any level and I’ve suffered from depression/anxiety etc

My honest gut response to this article as someone who is struggling with issues, I feel like this is a very boastful article, I have zero sympathy for the writer, I guess this person was a fucking COUNSELOR Jesus Christ, this person would NEVER relate to my problems. I just don’t really understand the point of this

It’s not “starting drama” for your friend’s girlfriend to be uncomfortable with her boyfriend being best friends with an ex, especially an ex who sees the distance as the reason you’re not still together.

Starred for your profile picture— Mark Rylance as Olivia in Twelth Night. He was brilliant in that, and in many other works. But Johnny Flynn has stolen my heart forever!

You’ve been excoriated, but you’re right. “Woman charged with fatally stabbing her four children” is the more appropriate headline for a feminist website. It tells you everything you need to know.

I think the headline should specify that she murdered her own children, not just suggest it, like it currently does right now by calling her a “mother” but not saying whether it was her own children she stabbed, which is kind of weird.

I agree, but I think fathers who commit domestic violence/murder are usually described in different terms, i.e. “Man shoots, kills wife and children”, as opposed to defining them as “father” first and foremost. It’s interesting to consider why we frame the crimes differently. Stories of mothers who harm their children

I see we've moved on to identifying women by their reproductive status in the headlines now. Great.

A typo is when you hit a wrong key, not when you use a wrong word. I’m totally chill, just pointing out that you’re a racist and also don’t know English.

This is a great vignette about the privilege of a PhD student. You get the privilege of being treated like shit from your superiors (grad students ahead of you in your program, professors), your subordinates (your undergrad students) AND your university administration. You’re in a shit sandwich, with a side of shit.

uh, it’s a play on #brexit, but with a #p, get it?

Try to at least use real English when making your racist commentary. One woman is spelled woman. Multiple of them are women. You hear things, you don’t here them.

So the attractive white women who had a job at one of the most successful magazines ever is using the following hashtags on twitter.
