This is great. I would love to see a more in depth article on the differences between the card check process (when the employer is neutral) and the election process (which favors the employer).

As they are legally obligated to do? They don’t have a choice if they got the NLRB election route. Now if Story Corps agreed to card check, that would be notable.
I grew up middle class. My parents had an incredibly fucked up relationship with money. I’m pretty sure that in the course of raising 6 kids they got incredibly indebted with a couple mortgages, car payments, credit cards, student debt, everything. My parents spent money on things I thought were stupid and I was…
Hopefully the DOL will be all over Applebee’s, but they currently don’t have the resources to investigate every wage theft claim. It usually takes years to get a settlement through the DOL. Which is why most people in Indiana at least would opt to go through the state, where it will be resolved much quicker. My…
It depends. Wage theft is normally handled at the state level, so it varies state by state. In Indiana that is not the case.
Oh my God I did not think about the Thailand thing. That is sick.
Yep, I like the show but you are 100% right.
Really? I’m fucking gray again? Not the day when Jezebel finally posts an article about pll!
Um no, it’s not. Making the villain gay or transgender is a pretty common trope, whereas positive representations of trans people are pretty rare. Plus this show has killed off nearly every black character and treats pedophilia like it’s normal and healthy.
Quite a promotion you gave him there. Justin Moed is not a Congressman, he is a state representative.
2013 sucked for me. 2014 was a lot better. I'm looking forward to an even better 2015.
Yeah, it's a struggle. The positive side is that I feel like I am taking control of something that seemed some abstract before. However bleak it is, it is comforting in a way to open up the program and know exactly how I am doing financially. It takes some of the anxiety out of it.
Prompted by my boyfriend's nagging and his purchase of You Need a Budget on Steam sale, I finally started the process of getting my finances under control again. I determined that over half of my income just needs to go to credit card and student loan payments. I feel so stupid for getting myself in this situation…
Not a new moral question, but I'm curious what you all think: how much should individuals help beggars?
You said it. Completely agree.
I do one I call a "blueberry buckle" smoothie. One super ripe banana, a cup of blueberries, 2 T of almond butter, 1/2 t vanilla extract, a generous sprinkling of cinnamon, a scoop of vanilla protein powder, and enough water to blend smooth. It's super filling so it's not a good snack smoothie, but it's good for a…
Lost my dad in July. Not normally a hugger but *hugs*.
Absolutely. She's so bitchy sometimes and I loooove it.
Fat dog in a t-shirt at the beach!?! Empathy pangs from my fat, self-conscious self.
I couldn't watch the whole thing. I had to fast forward to the end, and yes, I did feel a strong sense of satisfaction but also utter revulsion. My stomach feels like it is twisted upside down.
