Yep. This is the kind of move you expect from a team that once traded the #1 overall pick in the draft for the #3 overall pick the same year (not the players, the actual picks). Anyone who snarks on the Panthers’ fanbase should really look at some of the moves that happened in the 2000s and be amazed that there are…
Tjarks is alright, but will always be “not Zach Lowe” It takes the stuff I didn’t care for at Grantland and has made it most of the content.
Whoops, you beat me to it.
“Bortles 14 of 16, Rich. Good start for him. He has thrown a pick-six, though.”
The Bosh episode highlighted the flaw of this kind of sports show (besides Simmons’ TV presence). It aired almost immediately after Wade signed with the Bulls, and since the show was prerecorded, there was absolutely no talk about it. It made for such awkward TV to see Simmons asking Bosh about the Big Three in that…
Also- highly underrated Pacino film: The Devil’s Advocate. He’s literally the Devil! It’s pretty badass.
Hard to rate anyone above Ray, but G-Money was so fun to watch. I wish more people talked about him. Even in Miami, he’s kind of been overshadowed since his teams were mostly garbage and he was the one traded for Zo.
I thought Kassouf was entertaining in this format, but he’d be absolutely brutal to watch at the live final table, seeing how his MO was to take forever to do everything. It works on TV as long as you also don’t have to sit there every second with him.
And if you told me the final score of the game in question, I would have assumed you were talking about a video game and not real life.
A for effort.
They also donated $35,000 to the charity the Fernández family established after his death, and they’re wearing 16 stickers on their helmets. Really awesome tribute.
The funny thing is that our incompetence at talent evaluation extends to picking GMs. I’m almost convinced we picked Landry by accident, as it’s totally out of character for us to ever draft anyone better than “decent.” (Which is basically what Tannehill would be if he played on a worthwhile team.)
Pitbull shouting “Playoffs!” while players awkwardly dance is right up there with “take my talents to South Beach” and “not 1, not 2...” when I reflect on the Big Three years.
Maybe the Giants need to stick Lena Dunham on the sideline to get more apathy out of OBJ?
And frankly, we deserve to be picked on more. The whole perfect season thing and having Marino makes people forget how bad the last 15 years or so have actually been. We’re talking Bills/Browns levels of ineptitude.
I think the thing in the pregame that got me was seeing a big, hulking dude like Giancarlo Stanton bawling as the team stood at the mound and doing his best to choke out some encouragement for his teammates through the tears. I literally started tearing up again as I was typing the comment and remembering it.
I was already crying from seeing the ceremony, the players, hearing the announcers choked up...and then Gordon homered.
They may as well hang a banner for this...Lord knows they’ve got nothing else to celebrate.
This exactly. In a sport where the self-appointed arbiters of Playing The Game The Right Way bring the hammer down on anyone who shows some enthusiasm, on a team seemingly intentionally designed to keep people from caring...Jose made you care. If you wanted to introduce baseball to someone who didn’t follow it, he was…
