I own several pairs of them and they do work. One complaint I have is that the non-magnified lens models seem hard to come by. Most of them offer slight magnification but I prefer them without.

Yeah, the airline I used to fly for recommended we use AP whenever possible but it was only a recommendation. Some of the captains handflew up to 10k just to stay sharp. I never met a captain who handflew the whole flight. I used AP most of the time.
