Sean Astin is perfectly cast, both because of his 80s associations & how it is totally obvious to everyone, even to him, that Winona Ryder should not be with him (but it makes sense that she is, since she is desperately trying to create normalcy for her family & herself).

As a TV show, you can expect to see a post for every episode. So If Stranger Things posts are a thing that’s gonna bother you, maybe steer clear of the site for the next week.

Toby’s *definitely* become more tolerable this season. I feel like the writers heard the criticism that he was a little too much and toned him down in a subtle but effective way. It also helps that he and Kate are more of a team now that they’re engaged so his antics are in support of her rather than trying to woo

I also really liked this episode. I’m loving this season so much. This show has my heart. Not gonna deny it! I thought the Kate/Toby dance around was cheesy but kinda sweet. Is it just me or has Toby become a lot more tolerable this season? Your observation about Kevin’s addiction is spot on! The acting really does

So, are we to assume that Barry got that phrase from the future when he was freshly out of the Speed Force and all disoriented?

I think his Maggie’s father’s reasoning wasn’t very realistic but it made sort of “TV sense”. He rejected her because he didn’t want to witness her humiliation as she goes through something similar to what he endured (rejection of society). Honestly, even typing this feels stupid, but I think this was the logic behind

Considering that six months ago Earth-38 was very nearly conquered by aliens, arguing about Mexican immigrants feels quaint.

Maybe Lynda Carter is pro-alien immigration, but still hates Mexicans?

To your second paragraph, I certainly agree that it’s a bad reason to oppose equality, but it certainly is one that’s been frequently used by parents to object to a child’s unwanted (by the parent) homosexuality.

Ummmmmmm... No mention of this in the review which surprises me. Can we talk about Kara not just killing White Martians, but doing it very casually? They were the bad guys, yes. They’ve committed genocide, yes. But it’s still very, very weird to see Supergirl kill without giving it a second thought.

Okay, wait, there is this from Melissa Benoist’s Instagram:

Bringing in Carl Lumbly was such a fantastic decision by the Supergirl creative team. He knocked it out of the park.

Exactly. Unlike the reviewer, I don’t think that because this was 1990 (or whenever it was) that it would be surprising for Rebecca and Jack to see racism as it relates to their son, particularly since we’ve been shown that it is something they’ve already been becoming aware of...

So do I... But I agree. Also,

“Racism operates in an insidious, slippery way that white people are seldom taught to see or acknowledge—particularly not in the 1980s.”

Regardless of the setting, both parents have already been shown to having had to be aware of how casual racism (another horrible term) affects their son

What was even the point of building up Killer Frost and Caitlin last season only for her to be in basically the same position?

Was that giant penthouse at the beginning... the same from Arrow?

Tonally, this was a massive improvement on the last couple seasons. A real course correction. The plot was sort of incidental, but if they’ve truly fixed the tonal problems the show’s been having, I’m very optimistic for the season.

Tonight on Goddammit Barry, the show that tries it’s darnedest to make you say “Goddammit Barry”:

Glad they mentioned a male conquest for Sara.
