My best Valentine’s Day is inspiring my upcoming Valentine’s Day. When I was a kid my sister and I would spend literally every single Saturday night over at the same friend’s house. Said friend was the oldest of four, in a family led by a single mother (much like my own). I have this very distinct memory of one

I work in food & agriculture (restaurant), so we’re supposedly coming up soon on the vax priority. I joked on family Zoom the other day that since my mom’s husband is in the over 65 category and me with my job my mom will be the last one to get it. She’s retired though, and the only people she spends time with are my

I had a dream a decade ago in which I was watching “Face/Off” the musical and I’ll only be okay with this project if it brings that dream closer to reality.

I see people talking about a lot of emotions here, but I haven’t seen anyone mention fear. Sure, I feel frustrated, or sometimes angry with people who aren’t taking this virus seriously, but more than that I am afraid of this virus.

I already saw it when Jesse L. Martin was the one singing and I don’t really see the point of watching other people sing it.

I want to shout out another Trek alum here too, Anton Yelchin was brilliant and died in such an awful, terrifying way. I had recently watched "Green Room," and it was clear he had such a bright future ahead. Just a totally unnecessary death. He was almost exactly one year younger than me too.

There have been a few over the years that have rattled me, but I have to start with Leonard Nimoy. He was older to be sure, but as much as I admired him in life, the stories that came out from his friends and castmates after his passing only strengthened that. It was then that I heard the story about him sticking up

Non-book reader here, goddamn was this episode wacky as hell. It did feel a little bit when they were executing Larry and Ray in the pool that they were trying to shift Flagg’s Vegas from what I’ve read here about the book, to a modern TV-propaganda idea of what that might look like. I could see merit to such an idea

This bugs me too. He shot those people, whether or not he should be jailed for it is the point of the trial. But he did shoot them. Adding “alleged” before the verb feels very gaslight-y.

I will say that in real life I only have slightly more respect for the people who remain friends with people I know to be abusers than the abusers themselves. And just to pre-empt it, if I know know about what happened then it isn’t exactly a well kept secret.

Their research showed there would be few or no consequences for what they did, why should they care if they’re horrible people if they’re not going to be held accountable for it?

Pfft, I wish. It did give me an idea for a story where a low level employee slowly discovers they work for the mob, but when I told a friend about it they just said "Like 'The Firm?'"

No idea. I went and told my supervisor, who later told me it belonged to one of the partners and she would tell him to take it home. In the meantime I was just to move on to the the next filing cabinet and ignore that one. Way later someone stored a few rifles for a couple days in a filing storage room, but for some

This is amazing.

One day at my office gofer job I was tasked with moving files from one filing cabinet to another and I found a hand gun in the back of one of the drawers. No, it wasn’t filed under “G”.

Oh, our electoral vote is worth something like 1/53rd of a Wyoming person last I looked.

I don’t know if you were around when it came out, but it was a big hit.

Thanks. Quitting was one of those decisions that was difficult to make, but as soon as I made it I instantly felt better. I’m not bartending at the moment, but I do hope to get back to it after all this. Maybe in a different city some day down the line.

I really loved this column, it’s been a helpful cheatsheet to accessing the news. Having headlines that express the exasperation and anger that I feel makes it easier for me to digest the daily goings-on, even if *omg* they express some sort of bias. Biased against horror and corruption and racism? Shouldn’t we all be?

This is a bit of a different direction with this topic, but still fits.
