I think that’s pretty common- my employer also only offers the 12 weeks unpaid FMLA they are required to, and we can get short term disability coverage (at only a fraction of our salary) for 6 weeks (8 weeks for a c-section). That is IF you elect to purchase short term disability (but there are exclusions, so if you

My MIL continues to buy me clothes in a size M, even though I am definitely an L now. The other day she brought me an “early Christmas present” of some maternity clothes she got for me, which were fine, but were also a M, so I had to ask for the gift receipt so I could exchange them. And she proceeded to argue with

Most likely there weren’t any actual social workers there. Agencies like this aren’t paying people with masters’s degrees to provide those services- it’s maaayybe people with Bachelor’s degrees, but more often than not it’s just a high school diploma.

Correction: not maple syrup- it calls for maple FLAVORED syrup. This (obviously white) upper midwesterner finds it seriously offensive that anyone would use anything but REAL maple syrup.

I didn’t have recurrent miscarriage, but did have one and then a couple of years of “unexplained” infertility, several unsuccessful medicated cycles and an unsuccessful IUI before becoming pregnant again unexpectedly while waiting to begin our first IVF cycle. Ended up with a healthy baby (who is now a very energetic

Me too. Exactly the same middle of the night, sneaky voting move they pulled with Act 10 in 2011. No surprise at all.

I live outside of Madison/Milwaukee in Columbia county and while not our whole district, our small, normally conservative town was overwhelmingly blue in the recent election. I don’t think the rest of WI is as red as they think it is.

Scrummy for sure! I care about Mary’s opinion way more than Paul’s- he’s kind of a douche.

Sometimes it has to do with water saving regulations. My parents used to have a perfectly normal toilet- then they remodeled the bathroom and the only new ones available to buy were stupid low-flow, water-saving ones. Now their sorry excuse for a toilet won’t flush ANYTHING- you have to flush twice even if all you did

I’m on my second pregnancy with GD and while it is EXTREMELY annoying to have to scrutinize everything you eat and check your blood sugar 4x a day, it’s manageable. There’s a book called Real Food For Gestational Diabetes that’s pretty helpful. Also, over time you will start to learn which foods spike your blood sugar

She wasn’t contrite at all actually- didn’t apologize or anything. Once the baby is born in a couple of months I will probably keep our older daughter home with me while I’m on leave and we are in the market for a new day care provider . (not because of that comment, but there are a lot of issues there...)

Oh wow. I’m so sorry- that’s a lot to take. Wish I had an answer for you, but of course there’s not much I can say other than whatever you decide to do will be the right thing to do. ((hugs))

On The West Wing, they put the Thanksgiving turkeys in CJ’s office. So I vote they hang out in Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ office all week.

I’m so sorry to hear that :( I lost my first pregnancy at 8 weeks as well so I know that grief all too well. I hope you are recovering and taking good care of yourself.

Because if they are doing a hiring fair, and lots of people WILL be there in person and able to interview on the spot, it’s quite possible they won’t even look at a resume sent via email. If you really want this job, you need to give yourself the best possible chance of actually getting it.

What the hell!? I hope that person is now your former friend.

Ok THIS is why you NEED to take the risk, take the day off from work, and GO to the interview in person. Your job is horrible and doesn’t even pay you enough to drive to Cleveland for the day? It is absolutely worth it to take the risk and GO. If you don’t, you will be stuck in misery forever.

Ha ha ha ha ha I didn’t even notice how that sounded until you pointed it out! Although to be fair, my toddler DOES come up with some pretty creative outfits!

I debated how to respond, but ultimately decided it was probably best not to shame the person who takes care of my child every day.

The backstory: I’m currently pregnant with my second and as it turns out, with the second pregnancy, you start to show a LOT sooner. I was only maybe 10 weeks along and definitely not ready to announce the news (especially having had losses in the past) and I *thought* I was doing a pretty decent job of hiding my
