When a semi decent 535is is less than half the price, this car is CP all the way.

$5K tops otherwise CP! One good thing a human can actually fix anything on this Bemvee (as they say in the Fatherland)

I’m with you, if this were a US model of this vintage, age, miles and provenance it would be worth around $2.5-3k depending upon documentation of the new engine, I’d rather start with a clean one of those and add the euro bits.

Given that the Euro-spec engine was the whole point of importing this car, and it is no longer with the car, I really don’t see the point. I’ve seen cleaner NA E28s go for half of this, and that buys a set of Euro bumpers and some “535” badges, if you want to replicate this car for half off, without the issues this

No way. That brake problem is no joke on there, it’s not a simple brake booster, it’s a crazy power steering pump driven thing. If you do an engine swap, why not get the better M30B35 motor? And, why would it need an engine swap in the first place, M30’s are bulletproof.

Here’s the thing: an E28 gray market car is not that special. In fact, very few gray market cars are that special. If the diving board bumpers bother you that much, those can be swapped with relative ease if you take the time to track down the Euro valance, lights, and bumper cover.

Kill me but I’m going to say Alfa Romeo, their current lineup is super hideous and I see no change of improving. Their famous beauty is no longer there, it’s just a bunch of lines that result in fugliness with an inverted triangle at the front.

Thats what I thought, I have a manual car and I used it to commute from manhattan to Ct. and on 1-95. It was straight traffic for miles and miles. I love manuals but that was torture and I dreaded it every time. Slipping the clutch or popping it in and out for hours was so bad. Sometimes you could just leave it in 1st

I’m aware of how to use a clutch and I believe it’s more annoying than driving in heavy traffic than an automatic.

I think we can all agree that we generally like cars with clutches, but that sitting in traffic using a clutch isn’t the way we’d like to be using said clutch. I don’t want to give up my stick shift because of heavy traffic, but let’s be honest, in heavy traffic, an automatic is just much easier.

I’m curious. Where do you live? Not asking for an address, just a general location. People’s definition of “traffic” varies greatly depending on where they live is something I’ve noticed.

Ever tried driving through a major city in Japan? I-405 near a major city during rush hour?

yes it is, once traffic is moving slower than you can idle along in first gear. then it’s a maddening dance of clutch in, clutch out, clutch in, clutch out, etc.

traffic starts to move, clutch in, first gear, rev up, clutch out, oh and clutch back in. Repeat, a lot. Nothing fun about it.

I respectfully disagree.

Any car with a clutch.

Couldn’t you make the exact same argument against the Chevy trucks (which are on this list)?

You don’t keep an eye on your oil temp and pressure? I check every few minutes at the least. That stuff is the most important on-the-fly diagnostic you can get on a naturally aspirated car.

I’ve always heard it as a whale-tail, not duck. Am I the only one? (I realize the term “whale tail” has another less classy meaning, but we’ll ignore that for the time being).

This is what they get for putting the chargers closest to the building. Move them out to the end of the parking lot and they’ll be available all the time.

I’d feel bad for the electric owners, except they knew they were buying vehicles with inadequate needs for their use, and were dependent on the kindness and generosity of bureaucracies for their commute.
