The Germans are pretty good about it. BMW’s parts back-catalog is pretty well supported, and while I’ve run into some parts problems on my 190E 2.3-16 (such as the crank damper being NLA), they did just make a new run of OE spoilers. I bought one. It wasn’t cheap but I couldn’t NOT buy one.

Goddamnit. Had I know VW would add a glorious green option in ‘18 I would not have purchased my ‘17 GTI. What a kick in the balls.

Ultimately, people will simply stop paying or switch companies. If insurance companies see their membership rates dropping to new competitors who are leveraging lower liability to keep rates low for human drivers, they will also drop rates.

Yes, the liability would probably be lessened on an autonomous vehicle too, but that doesn’t mean that human-driven cars would get more expensive to insure as overall crash rates go down. Just means that autonomous cars will probably be discounted relative to human-driven cars.

Why? More autobot cars on the road = less overall crash rates = less overall crash rates for all vehicles = less liability for human drivers & insurance companies.

The eurospec S50B32 had a longer stroke than the US Spee S52B32 - 91mm vs 89.6mm, so different crankshaft. it shares this with the M54B30.

The 16v was not an AMG product. It was an in-house MB project with headwork by Cosworth.

CP. It’s an E34 in NY - there will be rust hiding under that Vinyl. I’d give it a NP in a non-salt state though... of it can be demonstrated to be cancer free.

The non-M E36 6-cylinder cars required it as a minimum. At least my 328i and 323is did.

My 6-sp GTI has it now. So, yes.

My son has been in a front-facing since he was ~1.25. He is *tall* for his age and he was outgrowing the rear-facing seat at a rapid pace. He climbed into it recently (he’s two now) when we were in the basement and he absolutely dwarfed the thing. There’s no way he could fit/be safe in it now.

Agreed. I bought my new GTI for 30,500. Not only was a used one of comparable spec hard to find, they were all hovering around 26-28k, with 10-20k miles.

All 16v W201 cars got actual leather.

The N52 also has it’s starter motor obscured by the intake manifold and it requires removal. The best part is that there are two (aluminum, TTY) bolts holding it in, and one comes into the starter motor from the back. Both are male torx. it makes for a VERY tight bolt removal.

Also, Night Blue is better than Lapis.

I dunno. I just went through this exact dilemma and I chose to GTI - in Autobahn trim. So it still has the (utterly fantastic) adjustable suspension and all the same interior comforts that the R has, but it’s missing AWD and the extra power. To make up for it, somewhat, it has a front limited slip differential and it

I bought a ‘17 GTI. Got a good deal on it too.

Not really. The S70/2 was based on the B30, yes, but it’s more similar to the B32, considering the B32 features many of the advancements, like dual-VANOS, that BMW designed and integrated into the S70/2.

My kid is 18 months old.
