I didn't have a problem generally, but in that one sequence where Corcoran kisses Eva Heissen, then in the next scene Maguire is doing it with Molly, I was really confused for a second, thinking it was Corky in both scenes.

Although it makes sense that more tales were spewing out of England, the world leader of the time, I don't think that automatically means it had "a lot more interesting stories to tell." The provincial can have a lot to offer in terms of storytelling.

I think a historical procedural in this particular setting is novel.

Maybe the hookers do but there's a little more moral diversity in the madams. Eva Heissen, who runs the working man's cathouse, is willing to take in a child in need of help, while the Contessa who runs the fancy rich people brothel happily pimps out children. Just a *little* bit of class commentary going on there.

I was wondering about that myself, not necessarily age of consent (which in episode 2 is referred to, upsettingly, as the age of 10), but the general social feeling towards pedophilia. Rape or forced prostitution was illegal (not to mention vile) at any age, even then, but in a society where a girl COULD choose to…

Thanks for the insight! I would love to hear more about your dad's experience working on the show as the season progresses.

He could get to it second - a little competition never hurt anybody!

This was actually supposed to refer to a child prostitution ring rather than a child pornography ring. I apologize for the typo and the confusion it caused, but am rather impressed with the level of discourse that it spawned!

I thought it was batshit in terms of how much happened so quickly, but on the other hand it did brought some much needed sense to some dangling threads.
