I’m not surprised. Leighton Meester always seemed very practical and natural to me. And she’s dealt with real shit in her life, she’s not really a fit for the Hollywood hippie lifestyle that Paltrow embraces.

There was a Twitter proposal that he share hosting duties with Kate McKinnon. I would watch the shit out of that.

I didn’t think Moonlight was a downer, though maybe not as candy-colored happy as La La Land. (I haven’t seen LLL yet.) I thought the final scenes of Moonlight were open-ended but hopeful - Black/Chiron made peace with his mother and with himself, and was finally ready to move forward.

Thanks! I did wonder because Emma Stone sounded a little put out - “I don’t know why they’re saying that” - but I think she was just tired of being asked about the snafu at that point.

The weird thing about that is that Emma Stone gave an interview where she said she’d kept her card as a souvenir and knew it wasn’t the one causing the trouble - so the one Warren Beatty was handed was a duplicate?

Yes. Has Trump condemned the killing of Indian immigrant Srinivas Kuchibhotla? Did he EVER release a proper statement on the Quebec City mosque shooting? No, because that brand of fanaticism and terrorism does not fit his narrative.

Now playing

The disconnect between the (quite liberal) figure of Christ and modern Christians has been summed up by many, but I still like the way John Fugelsang puts it:

Yeah, I’m a single woman with no children. Am I not meant to earn a comfortable wage?

It would be great to have Evan McMullin in. We need more principled conservatives who are willing to tackle the establishment. The GOP can’t ignore McMullin in the same way they’d ignore a Dem. I think any major investigation into Trump will have to be led by a McMullin figure so they can’t claim it’s all a left wing

One article I read said that this type of infraction would normally be investigated/punished within the department - so, Trump himself would have to punish her. Hoping that’s not true.

I think the second scenario is more likely. He’s built a reputation among his colleagues as a level-headed long-game man, a little Machiavellian. That’s from his detractors as well as his allies. I don’t think we can dismiss this as a hotheaded reaction to an “uppity” woman. I’m sure there’s another reason and I’m

I lived in Lancaster City for five years. I’d definitely recommend it. And It’s way more liberal than surrounding areas.

I don’t see how mini K can. Kylie Minogue has been recording since before Jenner was born. And in many places, she is a one-name celebrity.

A bit like how Glenn Beck flirted with the Lady Reason, then quickly went back to his old flame, Batshit-Crazy.

I keep hoping the NEA/NEH cuts won’t really happen ...but that’s probably setting me up for heartbreak. (And unemployment, since I work for a nonprofit history org.)

Personally, I always forget Missouri. But then I’m from the eastern seaboard.

On the plus side for less recognized black American heroes - Octavius Catto is getting a statue outside Philadelphia City Hall. His story is even more important today, what with all the voter supression.

Latest is that he’s treating the Supreme Court decision like a reality tv show. Is he going to make both his front runners stand there on stage and build suspense? Will they accept this robe?

I think we get desensitized to internet speech. Statements become so extreme that it’s hard to tell who’s serious and who’s trolling. Law enforcement couldn’t cope if they tried really investigating all the internet racists.

Has Trump made a real statement about the shooting (esp. now that we know the shooter) or was there just that stupid Spicer blargle?
