David Byrne & St Vincent - "Who"
Come on guys, where's Rebirth?
Really hoping to see Binding of Isaac: Rebirth in that part 2 you guys have coming up! Game is crazy, yo.
I'm fairly sure everyone was "asleep" during the launch, in the pods that were displayed during Episode One. That's largely an assumption of mine though.
As someone without Syfy who watched the full show less than legitimately, each double episode was uploaded without commercials. The running times ranged from about 70 minutes to 86. So just about four and a half hours for the full set of episodes, if I'm correct.
Any chance of some love on Sundays for The Mentalist's last season? Not reviews, per say, but a mention in the "also on" would be amazing.
It's actually an adaptation of an Australian television show, which in turn was an adaptation of an Australian novel. It supposedly was quite good (I've not myself seen it), so perhaps it'll actually succeed. The NBC version is also an 8-episode run, so it'll have to be pretty tight on the story.
Well said. I'm glad to see it starting to get closer to the grades it deserves on here though. This show has been massively improving week on week. Cannot wait to see where it goes from here.
I have generally always liked The Quietus' writing, so anything in that style/format is definitely something I'd look out.
Thank you a ton for all the suggestions actually, I really appreciate that. I'm horrible at finding quality new instrumental releases, and Henson's move into it shocked and intrigued me so much I had to include it. I'll be taking the time over the next day or so to look into all your suggestions!
Zaba has been one of my favorite records this year. Hypnotic as hell, with some seriously amazing sound design and lyrics.
Ignore those singles (Not that Blank Space isn't mega catchy) and pay a lot of attention to the stuff near the end. I Know Places and Clean are actually brilliant.
Really, really like this list actually. A few surprises that I'd forgotten that I felt fit right in to where they were placed.
I outright messaged a pal of mine on Skype after the episode ended, saying this was likely my favorite episode so far. I came here ready to see a nice high grade and was really shocked.
Yeah, the loss of both Grimm and SPN really made me rather sad. I came here as my core focus to discuss both/either show afterwards, and now I've been driven to IGN for Supernatural, and don't have anywhere but the lovely unofficial Grimm thread that gets created in these here comments if I ever want to talk about…
Thanks, I was mis-remembering a bit! Edited to reflect this.
These low grades for this show are killing me. This was an easy B/B+ for me at least, and covered a lot of great thematic ground. The plot was driven really well, in that the story veered as it *should have* to create something more complex than Supernatural's 2006 take on faith healers.
Not a prob! Todd VanDerWerff did the reviews for seasons 1-3, but he's not with AVClub anymore (He is missed dearly around here), so Erik took over for season 4.
An overly awesome dude who may or may not have written all the other Freak Show reviews, besides this one and Pink Cupcake's. Emily's now taking over though, as she mentioned in the review.
Regarding the woman at the end: At some point in Oliver's playboy past, he got a woman pregnant. Oliver's mother paid her off to keep quiet and move to Central City. This was the women we see here. Oliver had no idea any of this had happened, and it's clear she would prefer it to stay that way.
