The way he refers to the time of the track itself several times is downright magical. I've never heard anything like that.

Damn right. Getting Flume and Sophie on the same damn track and then dropping Kendrick on there and having them both ride that magic out was insane. The darkness on the production while being something absurdly different is so impressive, and downright daring. Next level indeed!
I was really pleased to hear a few tracks having a proper hook at times. It was a nice switch-up from the usual, and it's clear it's a weakness he's aware of. Everything he did on this project was just spectacular. His producer choices alone were amazing, and the way he carried himself over some of the batshit insane…
I'm unsure how a record with a run of songs like "Kept Woman", "Third of May", and "If You Need To, Keep Time On Me" could deserve less than a B.
Well, just finished a second listen. This album is bonkers. Crazy good stuff, with a lot of absolutely insane, paranoid, and downright skittering production, awesome features, and great vocal performances from Vince himself. Not to mention the lyrics. Really great songwriting for the most part. He fell into that trap…
It's already being worked on, and is one of the next live-action reboots Disney is releasing.
A Cure for Wellness hit the same vibe for me, and after seeing it, all I want to do is endlessly rewatch Hannibal.
I thought it was beautiful. I went in excited for Chazelle's directing and the Emma Stone/Ryan Gosling chemistry, and it all delivered splendidly. The camerawork was masterful, the directing was everything I could ask for and more, the colors were vibrant and beautiful, the core cast nailed everything I could ask from…
A Lovely Night and the party scene before it are my favorite scenes from the film. I'm on the side of "I adored the whole movie", but that set of scenes was really something special.
In La La Land's case, it was kinda a threefer for me. Chazelle was already a selling point, and Gosling and Stone was the extra nudge for me.
So we're getting Michael Cera as Shaft right? Glover's at least *in* the new Spiderman, that's gotta be good enough!
Well, you're in luck with this one. It's a lot more interesting - and different - than "this guy has DID", I can promise you that.
I dunno, the flippant nature of danger he has definitely has me on edge. The scene with the suitcase he stabs (I believe that was in the next episode) had me actually worried for a moment.
This is my favorite episode so far! It hit the humorous high points best, while making Olaf feel even more dangerous than ever. It's really clear how much the whole cast and crew adores the source material (they have to, with Handler at the lead!), and the fact the show is dripping with amazing references and…
I'm so upset at the utter lack of one of the year's finest albums, The Impossible Kid by Aesop Rock. This thing is getting criminally ignored. It has some of the best wordplay, storytelling, and complex rapping I've heard since well… Skelethon. Aesop goes in like crazy and paints a deep portrait of his life, his…
Be Right Back downright made me cry. It's so steeped in loss and sadness and every single moment manages to show that. It's absolutely incredible with amazing chemistry from the leads initially and a heartbreaking performance from Atwell as the episode continues.
Ya know, this is a very negative sounding review for a B-. That alone piqued my interest. Plus perhaps the show will be able to pull itself up further with the final two episodes of the season since only 1-4 were viewed for this review. I have hope as I really loved episode one!
"Vernon retreats back into an easy melody. “Caroline, Caroline,” he sings to resolve it the first time."
So sad to not see Salt and Sanctuary on here. Takes all the best elements of a Dark Souls game, and mashes it up spectacularly with the metroidvania genre, creating a true love letter to the two styles in a gorgeously designed 2D world. Combat is challenging and fluid, the story is elegant and creepy, and the game…
The singles for this album have been fucking amazing. I need to listen to this album right now.
