Ellie I really think the headline of this post should have been about how fucking awesome that woman is rather than how predictably terrible that man is.

I agree with you, and I would add that there’s a symbolic value to Trump’s fall. He stands for ignorance, arrogance, white supremacy, and unrestrained machismo. America needs to learn that you can’t elect a guy like that to do one of the hardest jobs in the world, especially not in 2017.

True, and to some extent I think the “fall in line” mentality can be a good thing - we all have political differences but their job is to protect the nation no matter who is in charge, even if they disagree w the new guy’s politics.

That makes sense!! I know a lot of people in the military and even if they don’t like Trump they believe very strongly that it’s our duty as Americans to “fall in line.” I had to gently explain to a friend that people who feel their rights are threatened can’t just fall in line...

I work at an environmental research institute in DC, specifically on a team that researches corporate sustainability, and the good news is that there are big market incentives for reducing emissions, so even without Trump’s support we may see major changes in our economy.
