But when has Hillary ever given the appearance of caring about the electorate, as opposed to her electoral chances?

Don’t worry, if Bernie had made this statement the same commenter would be thrilled. This is a witch hunt, remember?

You’re contradicting yourself here. Either committing to diversity is a liability for the quality of the cabinet, or it’s not.

haha not really obvious when plenty of people on Gawker would say that seriously!

People bashing Hillary on this article, and throughout all of Gawker/the internet: google “Hyperbole”

Oh sure, but I don’t think we need to take her comment so literally. She said the cabinet will “look like America” - so like, roughly half women(but yeah could be 7 women 8 men), some people of color, etc.

Yeah but I mean look at all the comments on this article saying that she’s “pandering” and setting “arbitrary” goals. If she did make a hard promise these people would go nuts.

It doesn’t matter what Hillary does. Her opposition will consider it “pandering”, “corruption”, etc. She could bend over backwards for you and you’d still accuse her of being selfish.

Because it is extremely unlikely that more than half of the cabinet positions will have a male candidate that is significantly more qualified than any of the female candidates.

50% isn’t arbitrary when half of people are women.

Right. The only way a black woman gets a top-level cabinet position is to be a token for Hillary’s political gain.

A highly qualified man will not be turned down in favor of a poorly qualified woman. A highly qualified man may be turned town in favor of an equally highly qualified woman for the sake of ensuring diversity, something that tends to make working groups more effective in addition to being fair.

I think she is so cute! I would totally switch teams for her.

I agree that Bernie would be a good choice for VP for the reasons you gave, but I think he burned that bridge a while ago. The problem is that he relied on tarnishing HRC’s character in order to mount his own campaign. It’s one thing to express disagreement with an opponent’s policy proposals/past senate votes and

The Democrats let Bernie run as a Democrat even though he was not previously a Democrat. He even admitted that he chose this party for the media coverage. So, I’d say they’ve been pretty fair.

No, she’s right on this, even if you have valid reasons to vote for Bernie. I see this all the time with commenters on Gawker who say that Hillary is “practically a republican.” This is the woman who was portrayed as a leftist radical in the 90's because she was so outspoken about women’s rights, universal healthcare,

It’s a little eye opening to see how many men cheat

Bingo. Most of the super enthusiastic Bernie supporters on this site are way more focused on trashing Hillary than they are on praising Bernie. It’s very telling.

My guess is that his “reaction” will be to adopt more moderate, political feasible policies. You know, the ones Hillary is already proposing.

Ladies were accustomed to relieving themselves discreetly almost anywhere...it was simply a matter of standing astride some sort of gutter and gazing dreamily about for a minute or so.
