The Jack Benny Program’s move from NBC to CBS was a huge thing, even within the fiction of the series itself. The first CBS episode had Jack fretting about how his new bosses would treat him and the show and featured CBS head WiIlliam Paley as a guest.

The original was a great movie, and anybody who didn’t enjoy it is probably the type of person who thinks that pear halves make a good dessert.
