It's a very polished version of the hack and slash genre, and sort of invented it.

I think the beta felt shallow and vapid because it was so early in the game.

What's worth noting, is that there was also NO "hook" for pre-ordering the game, other than the fact that the CE was actually limited and subsequently preorders got exhausted.

There are ways they COULD have made it more exciting, in the past, but I think they took a wrong road in their approach to churning out content, in addition to the aesthetic they are seemingly appealing to with MoP. but I know it will bring back some people...
