I was coming here to say this. Any chronic disease easily causes depression. So it’s not that it’s lupus specific but having lupus definitely does this to you. Just the disease alone is enough, but if you add in chronic pain that lupus causes, that brings on depression too as many pain sufferers will know.
Not a doctor, but I’ve had tons of treatments of this sort since I’ve had RA/Lupus for 20 years now. There are different kinds of chemo at this point. Also many of the meds commonly used for Lupus (looking at YOU, prednisone) can definitely cause depression and anxiety as a side-effect. My daughter has lupus.
Steroids make you gain weight and also can turn you into an emotional wreck. It sucks when you need them but they’re fucking with you every step of the way
Yep. I was just told that I have PCOS/Hashimoto’s, and immediately started having daily panic attacks. Even my parents were like, “Why are you freaking out? There’s nothing you can do.” It’s crazy how misunderstood autoimmune diseases- and the people who have them- are.
