Ahhh Fox News you’re so predictable.
Ahhh Fox News you’re so predictable.
Thank you for the (unintentional) shout out to my home town of Champaign Il!
The darkly hilarious bit to me is that the Reagan coalition’s major motivation (besides racism) was hatred of Russia and fear that we weren’t doing enough to oppose them. 36 years later, the last President of the Reagan coalition was literally installed by Russian interference.
Because stupid opinions deserve to be denigrated, not celebrated. Two plus two doesn’t equal five, no matter how much someone might want to believe it, and giving them a platform in one of the most prominent media sources in the world to spout idiocy does all of us a disservice.
It’s the New York Times opinion section. They’re America’s paper of record, it’s okay to hold them to a higher standard than the clickbaiting “just asking questions” stuff they’ve been putting out recently and the voices they’ve chosen to promote over other, arguably more deserving, ones
If she didn’t finish last, it’s only because some more talented skiers actually tried some tricks and crashed, not because she skied better. The skiers who finished below her were actually competing.
To me, that’s the unsavoury part of this. If an overmatched skier from Tibet gets to the Olympics despite facilities or coaching or funding and represents his country gamely, fair ball, that’s the Olympics ideal. But this dilettante gamed the system in a way that only a 1%er could, by flying all over the world at the…
But that is the issue. 60% of what she did was sitting at a keyboard. She’d check the list of a minor FIS event to see if the number of entrants was less than 30, if so she’d book airfare, show up and spend 2 minutes on her “sport”.
Everyone is moving toward the right?
Dude. Okay. So I hesitated posting that specifically because I don’t want to relitigate the primary AT ALL.
The same world where it makes sense to put email settings somewhere other than the email program.
In what (terrible) world is “perfectly designed” and “leads to people walking into walls” the same thing?
Because you don’t need to be a native Korean speaker to pronounce the city correctly. That many Americans would initially mispronounce the name is all the MORE reason to make sure to pronounce it correctly in broadcasts.
I actually prefer the Shibs’ style of skating. It’s not so tortured-artiste as the rest, which is such a nice change of pace. And I suspect they have to pay tons more attention to the precision of their choreography, since they can’t rely on the wandering handsiness that I dislike about Virtue and Moir. The Shibs’…
People’s resilience and ability to not be physically harmed by words is not a reason to perpetuate demeaning and hateful expressions, even if they’ve lost some of that ugliness over time. I get what you’re saying here (they’re only words, right?), but this concept of “people just shouldn’t take it the wrong way” is…
I’m an American-born child of Chinese immigrants. While Bari’s comments (and subsequent “if you were offended, that says more about your intentions than mine!!!” response) were disappointing, to any POC, especially Latinix and Asian POC, this is exactly 0% shocking. We get othered all the time, even in the country of…
I do wish the face looked more like Michelle. I mean, it’s a cool painting, I love the contrast of the grey and the blue, and I think the inclusion of the flying geese pattern on her dress is playful and fun (as a quilter I am a big fan of that pattern), but the face is just... off. Michelle Obama is a genuinely…
Gender standards do exist, though. Being a social construct doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Money is a social construct, but that doesn’t mean you are out throwing it into the gutter.
That was a very touching video honestly
