The GOP hates Hollywood, go figure. Seems like their kind of people.

Upton Sinclair: 'It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.'

Nope, just a Canadian citizen. When I go back to work he goes to subsidized daycare for which I pay $7 per day. Paying lots of taxes does have its perks.

This reminds me of something that happened during the 10 minutes I was a lawyer.

Haha I was just saying the same thing in another comment, the logical disconnect is hilarious (read: fucking pathetic) - let's force women to be mothers by taking away the ways to not be mothers and then when they become mothers, SCREW YOU STOP BEING SO ENTITLED.

I'd say that they also have to be careful because you can't really argue for stiffing mothers on benefits while also trying to limit access to sex education, contraception, and abortion, but that would require logical thinking and the Republicans aren't playing with a full deck.

And the flip side is basically the same argument when it's about birth control, all WHY SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT PAY FOR YOUR WHORE PILLS AND ABORTIONS?! So basically you can't win.

Goddamn. Do you ever get depressed when you think about all the stuff he could have done if obstructionist fuckwraiths weren't in the House and Senate?

This is soooo gonna stick in the Right's craw. Sinking this legislation will not play well with the whole "family values" schtick. I'll bet every Republican staffer is huddled together to find a way to shoot this down without it also going into their foot.

Better than nothing, but still pretty bad. I'm currently on my second 52 week payed maternity leave. You deserve better my American sisters!

All this reminds me of is this bird called a Sage-Grouse.

When asked for comment about Kenya's remarks Lupita replied;

Who did they entrust to do the photoshopping? Is there some super-enlightened Orthodox guy working for the newspaper who can handle looking at female politicians without being overcome with lust?

A wide-angle lens would make the nose bigger and face narrower (relative to the each other), not wider (with wide-angle lenses, closer objects appear larger relative to farther objects).

It wasn't until I came to America that I realized my skin color, because every photo of me ever developed in Pakistan gave me a cream and roses complexion. I remember getting my college ID and thinking, oh they gave me the ID of some Sudanese guy with my same name.

Same—photo retouching is a routine part of my job, and sometimes I have to do pretty heavy retouching for lots of reasons (bad lighting, dust on photos, etc.), but when it comes to making people look different, I'll take out zits and that kind of thing, but I don't ever, ever change what a person looks like.

I think the best photo retouchers try to make people look like they'd look on their best day—which might involve taking out zits and the like. But changing the fundamental shape of someone's face is beyond. It's really gross.

God - as if learning to love yourself at that age (or any) isn't hard enough, and then you look in the yearbook and someone has basically marked you as "not pretty enough" and made you into what they think you should look like? I had terrible self esteem at that age - if this had happened to me, I might still be

What slays me about this is that the dog is so obviously upset that he's going to land on his tiny human. Like, they really do love us humans! Sniff. Makes me tear up.
