I know these things are not one size fits all, but I got a hormonal IUD and love it. It’s been six years since I’ve had any period at all. I was very hesitant, as I failed four other hormonal options. I was convinced the copper IUD would be right for me.

Personally, I will keep getting IUDs until I reach menopause. The pain is worth it to me. But it would have been nice to be more mentally prepared for that first insertion.

IUD insertion is indeed incredibly painful. I was told it would be “some pressure.” While it was really more like an ice pick to the uterus.
