I personally satisfy any urge to get hung up on politics with r/LeopardsAteMyFace, which is full of mostly conservative schadenfreude.

This week, I signed up for Reddit.

Oh, I loved that show! So nineties Dark Shadows with Extra Angst!

Anyone reading/watching anything good? Thus far this break I’ve read Hamnet (enjoyed very much) and started The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (taking a while to develop but the premise is intriguing so I’ll stick with it). I also watched all of Derry Girls, rewatched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (it left Netflix

It’s these cheap imported pixels!

1 million COVID cases + 0 fucks.

“We were certainly hoping we would be in a bubble and not have to go through the things that larger communities were having to deal with because we were in —quote— rural Texas,”

I think it’s a combo of what people are led to believe that they can do based on reopening regulations, combined with COVID fatigue. It is not at all surprising that we’re seeing another surge based on the amount of indoor activity that the state has allowed.

My town was the first to reopen the amusement park —- for one weekend until cases spiked again

Texas has 1 million cases. Canada has 277,000.
And the Canadian government is still worrying about our response. If we had three times as many cases, we’d be flipping out.

“We realized we're not immune to this"... worldwide pandemic??? Says the president of a fucking hospital??? In 2020, no less, where, you know, science tells us how viruses spread and that viruses don't seek out liberals and don't care if you are a maga moron either. Which this dude clearly appears to be.

Although cases in my locale absolutely can’t compare, we’re having a surge too; and, yes it started about 6 weeks after indoor dining, etc. I don’t like my (red) city much so I’ll happily criticize jerks who are careless/ indifferent. But then I think of all of the ‘essential’ businesses (groceries, factories, etc.)

In comparison, Texas has a population of 29 million, while Canada has a population of 37 million. Both are generally large rural areas with the vast majority of the people clustered in semi-dense cities.

We are approaching 1 million here in California and it’s so disheartening. I’m incredibly disappointed in how many people are not taking this seriously and are just doing whatever the fuck they want.

Remember it’s better to die than live via a healthcare system that doesn’t prioritize profit!

Everything is bigger in Texas, including COVID-19 cases!

COVID 10 and ain’t-wearing-no-mask-ism are only the pebble for an avalanche the Texas GOP have long built.

Ohio is now starting to average about 5-6,000 cases a day, and Governor Dewine is still doing little beyond begging people to behave and threatening to close things, because that’s worked so well so far. I’m so tired.

I thought all us Democrats had agreed the virus would just go away the day after the election if Biden won? Wasn’t that always the plan?

Have you received a renewal notice? They’re saying on the site that they are extending the expiry date until further notice, so it sounds like you are fine, even if the expiry date is approaching.
