Jez has been doing a lot of this in 2020 - nasty articles that often make assumptions about totally innocent individuals and where the writer has chosen to be mean without even doing a basic Google search to justify their shittiness.

Waiting for the update to this article where it is pointed out that the corn rows almost certainly purely a utilitarian costuming choice because it makes it easier to wear a wig--and that that is in fact what’s going on here.

Same. It’s just so needlessly bitter and mean. Shockingly so. And it really exemplifies what Jezebel has become. I just happened to notice Jezebel’s tagline. “A Supposedly Feminist Website”. They didn’t just freeze rent... they forgave it. In the letter to their tenants they emphasized their belief of “people over profits”.

The sad thing is, it wasn’t hard to research.  A quick Google search reveals how unnecessary this whole article is.  It’s just mean for no reason.

This whole article is cringey, mean spirited and poorly informed. You don’t need to “hope” that they froze rent. You can read the article written by one of your colleagues which explicitly says they did.

Thank you for this. I watch a lot of MMA, and all the fighters with long hair, men and women, wear their hair in braids for safety reasons for the fights. I would not guess Bell would have her hair braided like this for that reason, but for some specific job-related reason.

The hysterical policing of another woman’s hair choices is a good exemplar of why no one takes progressives seriously.

She is acting in a role where she has to wear a wig (see her Instagram post from 10/28/2020).  The wig needs to fit to her head tightly and braiding your hair close to your head is one of the best ways to do that.  

Remember this the next time anyone tries the claim that Asians are the model minority and don’t suffer from any discrimination.

I am so so exhausted. My uncle passed away last week and it has been such a long week and now today we had all the services in one day so I have been awake and surrounded by people since basically 8:30 this morning. Wakes and funerals are already awful occasions but the masks really top off the awful.

You know what? Chicken butt.
