How else should he describe the movement? Squatting in abandoned houses (until you're driven out by the police) isn't much of an accomplishment.

The process IS important.

Mission to civilize accomplished. On a side note, I want to know who clicked "like". We misanthropic, uncompromising realists have to stick together.
Actually burning down Oakland might have changed America for the better.
Fair enough. We have no way of knowing what body language Zimmerman displayed, or if he displayed his gun. The state was aware of that lack of information last year.
Your hypothetical works is Martin knew that Zimmerman had a gun. We don't have any evidence (or the possibility of any evidence) that Martin had a justified fear of Zimmerman.
The state has the burden of proof (beyond reasonable doubt) that the killing was illegal; the defendant faces a lower burden (I think in Florida it's preponderance, but it could be clear and convincing) of proving that the killing was justified.

There's a lot to prove with manslaughter. If the only requirement for a manslaughter conviction was that the defendant caused another person's death, self-defense wouldn't exist as a justification.
They could have argued that, except the law in Florida may have precluded that argument. The state probably has case law defining what constitutes aggression.
They didn't prove it. Their theory of the case damn near precluded it as an option.
Exactly. O'Mara was right when he pointed out that the prosecution was using defense tactics because it didn't have evidence. I'd love to see a defamation suit against NBC for that bullshit doctored audio.
I don't know that the state's primarily at fault. The facts weren't good for a conviction. What happened between the end of the phone call to 911 and the arrival of the police was (and is) anyone's guess. The locals didn't push for a prosecution because they knew the facts were bad for one. Prosecutors don't like…
Actually there were several reasons to find him not guilty of manslaughter, including the state's failure to argue a manslaughter theory of the crime. Had they gone with manslaughter from the outset, they might have gotten it. Murder 2 was never going to happen; the state knew it wasn't going to happen.
This is why I come here. Sure, the reviews are nice, and I love the comments, but my real goal is gathering material for my manifesto, You Eat What You Are.

End of Watch was excellent for what it was. I believe it's streaming on Netflix.
Vic Mackey.
I know it's late to jump into this, but I think his leverage was his ability to put cases on everyone in the Jungles. The threat during the end about how they'd all be playing basketball in Pelican Bay wasn't idle; he just died before he was able to carry it out.
I don't know Marah Eakin, but God bless her for doing a write-up on this song. I love Marty Robbins, and I have this album. Great, great track.
