There are a handful of sequels that surpass the original movie - such as Empire Strikes Back, Godfather Part II, and Fury Road. Addams Family Values is definitely one of them.

This may also require a shift in the way movies are made. A Marvel/Star Wars film that costs $200 mil to make and $100 mil to market needs to make a billion worldwide to be profitable. I appreciate that Disney+ is going gangbusters, but that can’t be enough to replace the $10 billion Disney made in the world box…

I’m with you on Watchmen, and  I actually really like the movie! But after seeing the HBO series, it’s just much more clear that Snyder didn’t really get at the heart of the comic book.

I will once again state my utter annoyance with these SnyderBois. When the Snyder Cut was first mentioned, a common response was “There may well be a rough edit, but it’s in no way fit for viewing by an audience.” The Snyder Cults would respond “Nuh-uh, stupid! Film cans! Picture lock! We could see it tomorrow!!!!!”

Exactly. The reason Clark becomes Superman and not a General Zod clone is because his parents fill him with empathy and love and a belief Truth, Justice and the American Way. If he doesn’t have those values then why on earth would he try to defend humanity?

Agree. There’s some funny weird stuff in there - like Kenan showing the sitcom outtakes of he and Cori to the kids - but it’s hidden under some pretty formulaic family sitcom setups. I hope it can figure out the balance.
