I didn’t see her specials, but I loved her in Always Be My Maybe.

Yeah, turns out that giving every rando at open mic night an hour special doesn’t produce the best comedy.
There’s one in Hyde Park, directly across the street from the FDR homestead (http://hydeparkdrivein.com/) and another in Poughkeepsie. (http://overlookdrivein.com/)
Coincidentally, we just went to a drive in tonight! They had a Jim Henson double feature - The Muppet Movie and Dark Crystal. It was great!
Did something we hadn’t done in ages and went to the drive in theatre. They had a double feature of Muppet Movie and Dark Crystal. (There are 3 active drive ins about a 90 min drive from NYC) It’s great since you can stay in your car and be socially distant. The drive in is having a Tim Burton evening soon…
It’s a test run. The studios aren’t going to burn a $200 mil budget movie by releasing it when no one is coming. Inception- or the Avengers re-release the Russos tossed out last month - would be a great way to gauge how willing people are to come out to theatres.
I can’t stand performative activism. Hey look, Instagram chains of people condemning racism! Brands putting up a black image on Tuesday! It’s all optics and not about changing anything.
I get HBO Max for free, and I’m not going to spend 4 hours on Snyder’s portentous twaddle.
Yeah, the vamps are generally pretty clueless. They didn’t notice the hordes of vamps trying to kill them or Guillermo protecting them. He could liters stake a vamp in the living room while shouting “I’m a Van Helding!” and Nandor and Lazlo would barely look up.
Very true. If it had premiered now, X-Files wouldn’t have the freedom to pursue the one-off episodes. There’d be a much more obsessive demand to explain all the alien backstory, rather than have it percolating in the background.
We named our dog Danerys, and it actually works better now. She is 10 pounds of cuddles in an 8 pound body, except for the five minutes a day where out of nowhere she goes ham on her squeaky toy and then tries to hump your arm.
Yes, Mimi only showed up the second time through at the Bachelorette party. I still haven’t seen Kim Jong Un or Mimi & Xan singing!
The films have made $1.5 billion at the global box office on relatively small budgets, and that is before home video sales and merchandise. They aren’t walking away from that.
Yeah, this seems entirely related to Disney/Marvel figuring out how to integrate the characters they reclaimed from Fox while still keeping their existing slate of pictures & D+ series on track.
One of my very first dates was taking a girl to see Ishtar.
Very true. I’ve been watching a lot of theatre on YouTube and it’s simply not the same. Andrew Lloyd Webber has been putting out a show a week and the National Theatre is doing the same, and they’re good! But you lack the visceral experience
I enjoyed it a lot. I like the vibe, which is Rick & Morty bit with less nihilism and more silly jokes. My favorite episode was the one where the completely misunderstand man caves, and sit around trying to drink “cold 1s”
“the place where books go to have online drama with each other.”
Tagging up on Shannon Miller’s pick, I love the part in every heist movie where it seems like the scam has fallen apart. Someone turned on the rest of the crew, the cops caught them, the target was tipped off... Only for it to be revealed that IT WAS PART OF THE PLAN THE WHOLE TIME! (By tipping off the target, he…
Disney does not want to avoid theatres. They need the blockbusters to make $1 billion at the global box office. If they need to shift to Disney+ releases, then they need to rethink the business model. They aren’t spending $300 mil to make and market Mulan and put it on streaming.
