From what I read about the merger, my understanding is that Disney is required to give the completed Fox movies a theatrical release. Otherwise, they would’ve dumped New Mutants on Hulu.

The Alamo Drafthouse is doing this very thing, with cult movies. They are featuring the cult film Roar with a video Q&A.

It’s crazy to realize that about 20 Marvel movies have been released in the gap between Avatar 1 and Avatar 2.

I don’t think a sequel to Titanic would make sense. And that is why it must be done.

I’m actually going to watch it tonight. Some writer friends and I are going to watch all 11 films and we decided to go with timeline order rather then release date. (So 1, 2, 3, Solo, R1, etc.)

Rock couldn’t possibly be that dumb in real life. The Rock Hudson in Hollywood is so dumb I’m surprised he didn’t drown in a rainstorm.

Nah, that’s hyperbolic. Jacob’s review here is pretty spot on. It’s a breezy show that’s perfect for binging: not great, but engaging enough that you don’t stop the next episode from starting. Perhaps the BBC was expecting something darker.

Is Central Park going to be weekly on Apple+ or dropped all at once? Because that is the only show I want to see on that platform and that’s how I’ll use my trial period.

I sincerely do not understand why you are snarking on an artist who is proud of her work and expects to be paid for it.

Oh absolutely! Joan just needed a bigger glass

QUIET, BEN!!!

More the latter. The studios have long wanted to do more releases straight to home video since they keep a larger chunk of the money than they would with a theatrical release. (90% vs 50-60%) The theaters have always screamed bloody murder any time the studios tried it (See: Tower Heist)

It would make total sense to do some re-releases the first few weeks theatres are open. Disney isn’t going to open Mulan or Black Widow until they can see how willing audiences are to come out, and a test release of Infinity War/Endgame might help gauge that.

I enjoy the Oscars, mostly. They are very useful for film buffs as a time capsule of the best or most important films of a given year. (Or at least what Hollywood thought were the best) This was important to me as a teen, trying to expand my film knowledge and vocabulary.

Margot Robbie over Elizabeth Moss for best actress!

I mean... you may not care for Dunham but he certainly has a right to protect his intellectual property. My social media feeds have been inundated with ads for face masks with Baby Yoda and Schitt’s Creek on them and I’m pretty sure they aren’t officially licensed either.

They may be contractually obligated to hit a certain number of episodes. Also, new content is preferable to even more reruns

If you get HBO through an AT&T package (like AT&T TV or Uverse) then you get HBOMax at no additional charge. Which is great, since I got HBO free as a promo with AT&T Wireless.

HBO as a cable channel was around $12/mo for years, so this is right in line with that.
