Now do cruise ships.

Most of Southern California law enforcement uses their helicopters like someone will take them away if they land. It already sucked, and knowing this makes it suck more.

This Tesla was not equipped for driving off road. Propert tires and lock up would have helped. There’s no telling what the driver’s ability had to do with it though.

1st Gear: If these “experts” are “concerned” about the Cybertruck, then they should also be “concerned” about trucks like these:

An AWD Golf R wagon with a stick (and an improved interior that didn’t suck aggressively) would be the ultimate one-car garage for me.

Probably a decision made by the same braintrust that thought that haptic controls would be a good idea in the new GTI.

1st Gear: Serious question: What do we think of Chinese EVs? Are they any good or are they crap? For years we heard about how Chinese car companies would someday come to the US with their ICE cars. But that never happened because frankly they weren’t good enough. Will they be able to have any more success with EVs?

1st Gear: “but as it turns out, the data just doesn’t support that line of thinking... yet”

I’ve got an MK7.5 Sportwagen 6spd w/4Motion. It’s fantastic. I can confirm that an R version would have made it fantastic-er. Thanks to the MQB platform though, there are people swapping wrecked R motors into the regular Sportwagens.

I resolved this dilemma by buying a 6-speed Alltrack and bolting an R suspension and GTI turbo to it. It’s a fun little sports wagon.

As a current MK7 Golf R owner, I would totally pay extra to buy the wagon !

honestly though, that is a heel of a deal for the early adopter.  Let’s say 3 years ago you picked up a Model 3 for 50K.  You only paid 42,500 after tax credit.  If you drove it 50K miles and sold it for 30k, you cost of ownership was $12,500 for 5ok miles, or $.25 per mile.  You likely saved 1/2 that in energy cost

One would think this has more to do with the pandemic artificially raising used car prices to in come cases more than new car prices.

I live in Denver and rode my electric motorcycle to work multiple days this week in November of all things. Sure. It’s going to get snowy and icy here in a bit but that’s what the car is for. However, the other 8 months of the year are viable for this strategy.  No reason you can't combine the two for good effect.

I am an avid Mountain Biker - I also have a 7 speed beach cruiser - but when I need to run errand I use my Rad Wagon - Today alone I took a quad tire to the moto shop to get repaired and then made a run to the Autoparts store - I leave soon to pick up my kids from school. I live in an area with a lot of hills so the

I find in most western cities that Ebike riders very rarely replaced their car trips with them. Actually, you were mostly converting pedestrians and public transit trips to Ebikes ones.

By your math, that’s a $20/month operating cost. Still cheaper than just about any alternative you can think of. Regarding the burning batteries, that’s not a myth for sure and it does happen, but it’s rare and typically only happens with damaged units. As soon as we get UL approval requirements, those too will go

Hell yes, got an e bike last year. This spring and summer I ran all my errands on it, even trips to Home depot, groceries, etc. Basically only drove my car when i absolutely had to.

My thoughts exactly. You can fly to Silverstone, have a week of touring around Britain before or after the race, hotels, food, tickets, car rental would still be far cheaper.

Hilarious. Our first trip to Vegas was back in the mid-90's. We went in February and while we knew it was offseason and winter, we also rented a convertible Corvette for a drive to the Grand Canyon. One thing we did not take into account was that there could be snow anywhere along this trip. Well imagine our tourist
