The year is 2086. We have flying cars, people live on the moon, and Hollywood is still making Terminator sequels that nobody asked for.

Streaming is effectively recreating the world that existed before home video, where you’d come across some show or movie on TV and never be able to see it again. We’re going backwards.

Yeah, Lower decks takes place post TNG and Strange New Worlds takes place pre TOS. So definitely time travel hijynx. Most likely from Boimler and Mariner’s side of things.

Oh well yeah, no doubt there’s some sort of time whammy involved

There are almost certainly time-travel shenanigans involved in the crossover episode.

Time travel, of course.  Star Trek’s got plenty of it.

Lower Decks takes place after The Next Generation, Strange New Worlds is set on the Enterprise before Kirk takes over. So there’s most likely time travel shenanigans, which I think Jonathan Frakes (directing this episode) has confirmed.

I have one of those in a box somewhere. And I think I paid about $120 for it in about 1980 or so. So really this is amazing that the price of ANYTHING remains the same for 40 years.

The chief evaluative factor for a list like this should be whether the movie justifies its existence by doing something unique or new with the story. A live action remake that just does the same story and songs is just a bad money grab.

Not exactly. They are also saying TikTok should prevent people in the state from accessing the app - and holding them responsible if they fail to do so. And as Facebook demonstrated in Australia, it is possible to block a geographic region.

Those wheels are Reuleaux Triangles, one of a class of non-circular “shapes of constant width” that are the exact same diameter no matter where you measure. As such, they can roll in almost the exact same way as a circular wheel.

The reason you can’t roll a normal triangle or square is that they quickly fall into a low

On the Distraction podcast (from Defector) with Adam Conover as guest where he goes into it. Michael Schur was on a few weeks before, but the sentiment is the same. The people in charge now, the investor class, don’t give a shit about the product. They care about maximizing revenues and profits. These aren’t movie/TV

To quote Farnsworth, “UHWAAAAAH??”

Goddamn. You can’t keep this show down, not through two cancellations and three movies. I’m stoked.

Facebook is probably one of the many companies that feed him bribes every month to not give a fuck.

Republican politicians likely have no clue, but it could be blocked by internet providers within the state to avoid being fined. Users could easily circumvent it using a VPN service. China blocks all kinds of content within it’s borders.

So how is the government going to enforce this exactly, are they going to do daily checks of everyone’s phones? Now who does that sound like..

Cool. So what are you doing to protect that data from Facebook, who has shown even more willingness to abuse it for profit?

The last season wasn’t terrible, but they really should have ended it with Mallory on the beach with Ron.

Damn. The show was getting good again after the mostly forgettable “Dream Seasons”. I’d put decent odds we’ll get some kind of revival down the line, assembled from the AI-replicated voices of the cast (and hopefully the show would put a lampshade on that as well).
