No arguing everyone loves to see dents and gore, but bird strikes are a fact of life. That one isn’t even that good. Probably didn’t even get to the radar underneath.

It happens and it isn't much to get excited about.

Not near us in Atlanta, but my folks live just down the road from where they hold the Pioneer Power Show south of Minneapolis. If you are into mechanical devices, particularly steam driven ones, I would highly recommend it. The show is in August.

I was in Akihabara this morning (yesterday morning? Times zones and date lines and massive jetlag) and I was impressed with the number of high quality Star Wars stuff was on the market in Japan. Looks like they are ramping up for the films.

I’m thinking on taking in a restoration project for a late ‘60s early ‘70s vehicle. You know, something before smog and with some power. Having the rover would be needed for authenticity. While it wouldn’t be numbers matching, one of them on the moon would work fine.

I think the Guild of Calamitous Intent would be a more appropriate NASCAR sponsor. Perhaps for a plate race or Bristol?

Hmmm, saw a guy sitting on a riding lawn mower in the bed of a truck on 285 a month or so ago.

Here you go.

The space plane from 2001. What should have been. Single stage to orbit to the space station and a quick transfer to the moon base.

I love that they roll up to the test in a Connie and have a Starfighter for chase. It is like smelly Johnson’s greatest hits with those three. Why the didn’t have a P-38 there acting as camera ship I don’t know.

DC is a great kid city. We took our 5 and 8 year old a court leg of months ago. Lots of good park spaces and neat things to see.

We fly with our kids a lot. International and domestic. Both have passports and we use them. The are 8 and 5, so it is getting easier, but we learned a lot. Some notes:

Here are pics my son took last summer with a cheap digital camera. We took part in 4 days of the Hot Rod Powertour. It was an excuse to take a fun car trip around the southeast. We live in Atlanta, but are not natives and typically fly out for vacations. This was a fun road trip. It was cool to see what he focused on.

I was 6. We leaves in a burb east of Seattle. We lived in a hill with a lovely view of Rainer and St Helens. I was able to watch it from my front yard. Cool/scary stuff.

You see that, you turn your ass around and run the other way. Most effective if you are screeming.

The BFG is finally getting the movie it deserves?

Hi John. Welcome.

You got me. The XB-38 was Allisons.

GE 90 on a 747. Sure, it was part of the engine certification program, but swapping out a CF6, or similar, with a GE 90 restults with with a big old engine hanging really low to the ground.

We are transitting through to Singapore and finally on to Phuket. I will get 4 days in Tokyo on the way back.
