A de-rated CF-6 seems like the way to go. The PW2000 is a good motor, but it does have its reliability issues. You could run 4 of those, but would be at the upper edge of their performance envelope. Running 6 or 8 of them seems silly. GE has pumped some upgrades into the CF-6 so it still has some life in it. It

that probably works!

I was, but I don't know the legalities of copyright protection in Australia. I did see a post by Eve on FB about them not being happy about a MotorsTV clip of the race with their comms showing up on youtube.

you should drop Eve@radiolemans a line about using their comms. They are good folks, but sensitive about that kind of thing.

I forgot she was married to Maury Povich. Turns out he first name is really Constance per the Wiki.

That I don't know. I would imagine there would be a fail safe mode that it would go into, but I can't verify that.

I wonder what the weight and balance data will say. They should have had plenty of power on tap.

14 CFR 25.121 requires an aircraft to be able to climb at max load with only one engine operative. EASA rules mirror this requirement.

This should have a dozen stars. It was a huge change for motorsports and roadcars.

Bathurst 12 Hour is next weekend. Just a note for future use.

I think we owe a nod of respect to the tires. Spinning up from zero to 150+ in an instant while taking a huge load. Pretty amazing.

I hope so. Real economy improvements come from reduced weight.

Perhaps I've missed a promising trend, but I don't think I am too far out of line with my surprise.

"Still, this fourth generation car should weigh a few hundred pounds less than the NC Miata,"

Agreed that now is a good time to get the order in, but compared to the active airline service 747-400s that the VCs are kin to (yes, I know they are a hybrid between the -300 and the -400) I would bet dollars to donuts that they are still way low hours and cycles. Really it is the cycles that get a 747 when you

They aren't that old. Low hours and cycles and they are kept in the best environments. The airframes could last for another 25 years at the current utilization just fine. Updating the avionics is where it gets expensive.

YMMV, but my night vision has been fine. Halos went a way after about two months.

Defrost

only Barney, and even he isn't that suprised.

Depends on how sharp it is. A really sharp valley and you are SOL, but smother and you would probably be able to shrink it.
