I know its cool on Jalopnik to hate on crew cab trucks, but we sure enjoy ours. Its real nice to have a vehicle that can haul my family while also hauling furniture from marketplace, an old fridge to my parents, 2 dirt bikes on a weekend, all of my wife’s trade show booth & inventory, and tow our small camper trailer…
Thats fair, though spending an extra $4k on your upgrades just so you can pay 8% for it is rough...
Also I know a lot of dealers that will install aftermarket stuff and bake it into the loan cost.
Idk, doesn’t really seem like a good deal. $10k for shocks, tires, UCAs, sliders and a roof rack? Unless these are serious performance shocks, you can save a few grand going aftermarket.
Every time I see someone with that flashing 3rd brake light, I know they’re an absolute sucker
We just got a model 3, and I love the column shifter. easy to reach and out of the way.
Too bad they’re being stupid and putting it on the screen next
For used cars, it probably depends.
For new cars, IMO it is absolutely worth a $200 plane ticket to save a few grand on the right car
Not Japanese, but this is the #1 performance car concept I’m most excited for
I was going to say the same thing. You can buy it in Europe too:
maybe, but I own an EV and sometimes those charging stations start to feel reeeeeaaal lonely late at night, and the car won’t let you drive away in an emergency if you’re still plugged in.
Yep. There are millions of people flat towing behind RVs in this country!
Exactly. If I’m taking a trip along the interstate in my Tesla, its a fantastic experience. Going up into the Idaho panhandle on back roads? I’m taking my F-150. We need a LOT of infrastructure updates to make this work, but blanket statements don’t help on a nuanced issue.
Differing opinions and discussion is great and welcome. You comment like boomer on FB ;)
Go back to your room, the adults are having a real conversation.
Totally. I think government efforts would be much better spent eliminating the downsides to EVs. Incentivizing DC fast charging locations, charging for multi-family housing, and grid improvements would go a lot further.
Its a complex question. There are a lot of categories where EVs are clearly better, and with the right use case, they are fantastic. There are also a few major categories where they just can’t compete yet. Charge time, towing range, and charging for those without home chargers are definitely big ones
If this release hadn’t only been in 3D, I would have gone to it. I’m 30, so I never had the chance to see this in theaters. But the post-production 3D just doesn’t appeal to me. (honestly, Avatar is the only movie that is improved by 3D)
Decent summary, the biggest difference between a standard 4WD and your average AWD is a low range transfer case. Massive difference in capability there.
“People” being a sampling of online car enthusiasts, which is definitely not representative of the average car buyer.
I live in Boise Idaho, and I came VERY close to buying a Model 3, and spent a LOT of time on “A Better Route Planner” to see if it would make sense for us.
