My gut reaction is that this is a terrible idea. Almost zero room to learn anything. Not to mention that the limit is that sooner or later there will be no people to play this game because anyone interested can't.

Eh, no. They're jumping on the hard-game bandwagon with a bit too much weight. I can see the thing collapsing from a mile away.

Eh, I'm all for permadeath but this is a bit much for me. I enjoy the tension of looming death, but the tension of looming "never-ever-get-to-play-this-again" isn't exactly something I am looking for in my games. Too much control taken out of my hands, and not enough given to compensate.

Uptown Funk sounds to me like Everybody Walk the Dinosaur

So some people use Minecraft to make tasteless videos. That doesn't mean the game is garbage.

I don't understand how you can like The Time, and not like what Ronson and Bruno did on that song. It's a love letter.

I've given up on playing with randoms on consoles. It's hopeless.

not the MineCraft (nor the gaming itself), it's the drinking a 12 pack by oneself on a Saturday when you're 24.

I feel like it's an early adult thing to do, limiting yourself only to things that don't seem too childish. At that age I suppose people still feel they have to prove they're adults by doing adult things.

This isn't a post about Minecraft, this is a post about how you people raise monstrous children.

Why is it now popular to hate Minecraft? It can be a seriously fun game. If you just stick to creative mode without mods it can be a very relaxing experience where you can create digital buildings and worlds. Yes I'd like kids to play with real Legos, but Minecraft has it's place. You can build things that would be

you seem to think that when you get older you hit an age where you have all kinds of magical adult things to do. I hate to break it to you, but that age never comes. you stay the same dumb version of you and do whatever ultimately meaningless shit you can think of until you die. I hope knowing this will save you a

a game like minecraft would be impossible to develop with "good" graphics right now. even as-is the game can be very sluggish without a high-end processor and lots of memory because every "block" is its own object in the game world. making those blocks smaller to create a higher resolution world would melt most

Unless your kids are building gas chambers, I think you're fine.

True but I think the problem with the Wii there weren't enough good games that were a better alternative then using a controller. Wii Bowling is the Pinnacle of motion controls. Its more fun then using a controller and there haven't been that many games like that .

This is so true. I think the very simple appeal for VR for me is that I'm sick of looking through a window while playing games.

Sword Art Online Nervegear/Amusphere technology would be perfect then, you just sit in a chair or lay down with it on and away you go to wonderland. You can even taste food you eat, and you have a sense of touch, smell etc. Mind you controlling anything just by your thoughts is still a ways off, nevermind all the

This traffic isn't bad - it's just accurate to real life, where everyone makes mind-numbingly terrible decisions.

Seriously. That one lane traffic .gif? Welcome to DC.

Drew, here's your counterpoint. Minecraft is the first children's toy to come along in years that actually teaches kids to avoid the siren call of instant gratification and work on bigger projects that yield greater happiness down the road—-a lost art in today's "me want NOW" America:
