I mean, he’s right in that most people are straight, so a lower than expected box office will reflect straight people staying home. And I get the complaint—as a person who tries to write inclusive content, I am so sick of people saying they want inclusive content on Twitter and then not showing up to BUY IT—but it’s

Does the timeline support that though? I don’t think people knew quite how terrible Shia was (allegedly) during initial casting for this movie.

It sounds like you are buying it. You agree with the facts they stated. You just don’t think those facts matter.

I don’t get this Aziz Ansari style backlash. Even if you think “no big deal, the guy is a pig, not a criminal,” fans are well within their right to decide they don’t want to support a celebrity who treats

That’s the point of the show tho...

I find he is more concerned with outsmarting the viewer than telling an interesting or coherent story and Knives Out is prime example.

Holdo is actually fine at her job--why would she tell a soldier who recently disobeyed orders anything--and the fact that people miss this is one of the biggest reasons why TLJ is dumb.

I’m sure JJ Abrahams also stands by his Star Wars movies.

The challenging things really don’t make any sense. Rian is the ultimate “I would rather prove I’m clever than tell a coherent story” writer. (See all his other work). It works for people who like clever things more than they like coherent stories.

Cancel culture isn’t real because it’s a catchall term used for anything from mild Twitter criticism to sexual predators being fired from high-profile roles.

Sure, some of the things people call “cancel culture” are happening, but there is no singular cancel culture trying to force people to disappear if they dare post

Ha, a show about a dystopian future where the Christian right has taken over. Hilarious. Not at all especially apropos with current events. /s

I don’t really remember what happened in which season, and I don’t think the show needs to exist (THT is a perfect book and any additional material can only detract), but it continues to have really smart, nuanced portrayals of trauma. I also find THT is one of the smartest shows on TV when it comes to what people

She wants to disappear and she wants the spotlight. That’s the human condition. We want conflicting things.

Not really. They’re all adults. It’s none of our business.

I did love how pained he was by HTGAWM.

Plenty of legal shows are on the realistic side: Law & Order, The Good Wife, Better Call Saul (all approved by Legal Eagle IIRC). If you’re used to more realistic shows, watching more ridiculous ones can be a pain.

I endure because I’m a diehard legal procedural fan but stuff like Daredevil is verrry hard to take

I hate when people write this about any characters (unless there’s abuse or coercion, everyone is an adult, making adult choices), but I really hate it when it’s about a man “dragging” a woman to his level, and I really, really hate it when it’s about Kim.

Kim is an effin’ boss. No one drags Kim anywhere. Did people

No one has ever referred to the Jurassic movies as Chris Pratt or BDH films.

I don’t think people *refuse* to accept it. It’s more that this whole thing is cyclical. Men are given “box office power” star roles, men prove their bankability, men make more. In a world where most movies are franchises, and most franchises are led by male characters, male actors have way more chances for

That call wouldn’t take as long as his did.

I always liked Saul in BB. By the end, he was the only character I did like. But he was much more enjoyable because the show didn’t hit you over the head with the “is he good or bad” question.

I absolutely hate the fan obsession with “is this person worthy of redemption or not” and “when did they finally break bad.”
