I don’t think Luke is a Mary Sue because he’s more noticeably flawed. He does fit the other criteria (good at everything), but his impatience and petulance (like father, like son) are bigcharacter flaws whereas Rey still doesn’t seem to have any clear flaws.

I’m not a fangirl. I just read some extended universe books back in middle school. I was annoyed that Disney threw it out because it was interesting. And it felt disrespectful to people who were emotionally invested in these surprised.

Yes.

I don’t think they’re that far apart. Classic Vader is still whiny and erratic. It’s just he’s really cool with his deep voice and his sleek black outfit/armor/suit keeping him alive/whatever, so it’s easy to miss how little any of his crew respects him, and how much he’s the emperor’s whipping boy.

There’s a lot of room between snarky and earnest. Personally, I hate snark. It’s cheap, rude, and overly defensive. I would avoid any brand that I saw using snark on a regular basis. But there’s plenty of ways to be funny that aren’t snarky.

I think it will hurt them in the way some people perceive privacy. Before this, I never really thought about Netflix spying on me. Now I’m skeeved out that someone out there is looking over my play history.

He’s more like that guy you liked in high school when you didn’t know better. The way he hates everyone and everything makes him seem deep. But then you realize he’s just an asshole. (Adam Driver plays this character a lot and he does it well). He’s a perfect successor to Anakin.

I was shocked by how matter of fact Rouge One was about the characters going on a suicide mission. Not very Disney-like. I was also surprised by how much I liked it after The Force Awakens failed at being both a nostalgia cash in and an interesting new entry in the Star Wars universe.

Lord, it’s Jesse Lacey all over again. What do you call their joint statement? He admits she didn’t make up claims and that their relationship was violent. No, he doesn’t say “I hit my ex-wife,” but it’s between the lines.

It’s a lot of mental gymnastics to go from his admission of guilt to he’s a decent guy, but, sadly, this is not the first time I’ve seen that happen.

IME, women are more likely to be happy about a predator being outed vs sad about losing their fav, but plenty of women get just as in denial, victim blaming, or excusing making.

She would havea point if the nudity on GoT generally served the story the way it does on The Handmaid’s Tale, but most of the GoT nudity is gratuitous. It undermines the nudity that serves the narrative (like Emilia Clarke’s first nude scene), because it all runs together.

She is a great actress. We shouldn’t pretend otherwise. Racists aren’t black holes. They can and often do have good qualities. It’s not talentless racist or good talented progressive.

She does a lot of messed up shit, but it’s hard to take criticism seriously when it comes with digs at her appearance. We should be better than that.

I suspected Mindy and Danny would end up together, but Ithought the show would try harder to sell it. It seemed like it only took a few nice comments for Mindy to totally forgive Danny. The whole I’ve always loved you thing didn’t teach for me either. He’s seemed totally out of her thoughts so much ofthe time.

I felt your pain, Asher. I felt it!

Only if your going with some MRA definition of alpha. If you’re using it to mean “strong leader,” then no. Being assertive had nothing to do with ignoring consent. If anything, assertive people are clear communicators and put extra emphasis on (enthusiastic) consent.

The OC actually had a great soundtrack that Weezer was not on. I discovered a lot of great bands on my various Music From the OC mix CDs.

Lapsang souchang is a great black tea. Jeremey has good taste.
