It’s weird to suggest that an actor’s strong belief about unspoken characteristics of her character would be so derided by a viewer/reader. For anything that isn’t explicitly on the page, her take is infinitely more valid than yours.

Cats was Universal, but yeah. I’m not buying this. Like Day the Clown Cried got buried because everyone decided it was in incredibly bad taste, like it would be very offensive in a way they didn’t intend, that’s what it takes to really bury a thing. Just a bad movie? Hollywood has never seen that as an obstacle…

but the films done. it just seems weird to go so far as to toss it in the garbage just as part of a rebranding effort. i mean i guess it cuts the marketing costs but why not just toss it on HBO Max w/o marketing and see how it does.

At this point I’m waiting for Zaslav or someone to come out cackling like a villain talking about how somebody at WB mocked the Discovery team at a party once and this is all the culmination of a decades long revenge plan to dismantle them from the inside out.

My first thought was insurance scam. Like if they don’t release it they can claim that COVID screwed the production and file an insurance claim to get their money back.

Even if the movie is irredeemable, or the star of The Flash is irredeemable, I’d still like to see Michael Keaton’s return as Batman.

Right? The only real plausible explanation was that... the movie was actually good, which is extremely off-brand.

Supposedly the last act of BP was redone basically at the last minute, which explains why the CG there was so much worse than the rest of the movie. (Although frankly I don’t give a shit if CG is bad, that’s the least important and least interesting element of any movie)

It was always intended to be a direct to HBO Max movie. It was never going to be in theaters. Variety, HR and Deadline sources all report the same thing. It’s not the quality of the film, but part of Zaslav’s focus on all DC properties being big budget theatrical tentpoles and him not wanting to make even mid-budget…

Both Variety and HR are reporting it had nothing to do with the quality of the film. It’s more a continuation of Zaslav axing everything and wanting DC movies to only be big budget theatrical releases rather than streaming original movies on HBO Max. While also trying to wrangle the DCEU into a more unified universe.
