I’m going to have to disagree here. I have 2 of these sound bars and they are by far better than the built in speakers on my TVs. The sub alone helps a huge amount. Add to that Bluetooth for connecting a phone (my SO uses this all the time to listen to audio books while doing other stuff)

I have no horse in this race*, but it sounds like the issue is that Inside Edition is portraying this as some hard-hitting reporting, when they are actually reporting on some mundane issue. Your shoplifting scenario is exactly correct though - yes it’s wrong, but it’s not the actual problem at hand.

SF certainly isn’t the only odd one out, as my city offers the exact same thing (and has done so since 2007). So really the answer is “check what your local facility can do”. The headline is misleading.
