I think he’s making the point that it’s easier to attack these people than the people who are close to us. Instead of saying “Oh Bush did that. Did gramps do this shit too?” people are just directing their anger at a public figure.

My best advice is to explore some of the neighborhoods outside of Boston proper. Central Square, Harvard Square, Davis Square, etc. They often have better food, less people, and just a better vibe. It’s easier to drive to these places than the city, but like others have said, just walk or take public transportation.
