Consumer alert: Barnes & Noble is releasing the Criterion DVD/Blu-Ray of Guillermo del Toro's The Devil's Backbone tomorrow a week early, and it's 50% off the sale price because of B&N's annual Criterion sale, which runs through next Monday.

I've successfully recommended this to a few people now who have all enjoyed it. It's a good book for new and seasoned SF readers alike.

The cat and Dutch are perfect examples of what makes toy companies awesome. They get the weird and wacky way a lot of nerds mind works. We're all about the interesting details, even seemingly irrelevant ones.

Is it strange that I'm looking forward to the studio's Kaguya-hime no Monogatari more? Sure it's not directed by Hayao Miyazaki, but I'm a sucker for Ghibli's take on ancient legends and mythology, whether they be based on existing legends or ones they made up..
