Tesla did it right with the Supercharger network, the plug had nothing to really do with it.  Other automakers are adopting it just to use the network.

I have to blame the screwy Federal credit for this state of affairs.  With each passing year, fewer EVs qualify for the credit. This is causing car makers to have to deep discount all the non-eligible EV’s like the Mustang E or the Kia/Hyundai’s.

Concerning EVs as a whole, these depreciation analyses usually omit the $7500 tax credit. So it’s not quite fair. They use the MSRP, not the MSRP - Tax credit.

The tax credit has gotten harder to get, but for 3 year old EVs everyone got it.

How is this an “extra $120k”?

The long, drawn out, ridiculous media cycle for this thing really highlights how awesome Ford is at this stuff.

I grew up on an “empty country road.

Surely you’re not implying that there is some click-baiting going on?

I was a bit skeptical upon seeing the actual graph...

Those speed bumps are people.

I think for something like this, it’s probably more pertinent to note that driving in EV mode will save you a trips to the gas station rather than the $ saved. If it can save you time and effort, that’s probably more important to someone that can afford this.  Plus the actual “cost savings” may not materialize since

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid costs $100K.

We already have four cars for a family of two (plus occasional visits of kids). We barely make it work with three cars in the garage (one car on a lift) and one in the driveway.

People in the federal government definitely deserve less than a line worker at a Ford plant.

I would be willing to bet the venn diagram of people who were able and willing to commute to work by bike and people who’s jobs have switched to work from home is pretty close to a circle.

Yeah, I read this headline, and said to myself, “fuck them.” Then I read the article, and said “fuck them with a rusty spoon.” Any empathy I had disappeared when they decided to take advantage of a global pandemic to absolutely screw every customer they could (thus earning them record profits and contributing to

would be nice to remove the dealers in general.

Getting close to 30 days since my purchase while the bank is primed and ready for their first payment, the DMV doesn’t even know I bought a car yet.

It’s like when you used to go to a store and ask for a refund, and they’re all like, yeah, we’ll mail you a check within 30 business days, and you’re like “but you took my cash right away!”

Car people are second only to video game people in complaining ad nauseam about completely inconsequential nonsense that doesn’t affect anything or anyone in even a slightly negative way.

In a decade will my electric car be as obsolete as an iPhone 5?”

Probably. But at least it won’t be as obsolete as the flip phone gas car you would otherwise own.
