I joined the Army the day I turned 17 (mom signed me in was in basic 26 days later) Turned 18 took out a car loan to buy a truck once had the truck loan the bank gave me a credit card. Spent money partying instead of making truck payments and credit card payments.

It takes a while to get everything straight but its worth it. I remember going from 15% on one vehicle to 3% on the next and thinking how much money I was saving in interest would almost buy a second car.

I do agree though that turning 18 usually sucks, especially if you were never taught to handle money or credit

Or the vehicle breaks down, they cant afford to fix it so the dealership says we can just take it in on trade as is and roll the negative equity into a different vehicle. I know this first hand having been there done that and saw family and friends do the same thing.
