since I don’t follow the show, at all, somebody please explain to me why Supergirl in the top picture looks nothing like Melissa Benoist.

Watch his speech from yesterday. He’s noticeably slurring and can’t stand up straight. Combination of Adderall abuse and late-stage dementia. Fucker’ll be in a wheelchair by the end of the year.
It may surprise you to learn (it should not, but it should definitely depress you) that most media outlets, GMG included, mostly dismiss the women running, despite that Warren or Harris are both running very strong campaigns on issues with actual policy proposals and shit. Biden is running basically on Obama’s legacy,…
Somebody posted a tweet a couple days ago claiming that the purpose of this monstrosity was not to overturn Roe (which it likely won’t because it’s such a horrible law), but to force a liberal boycott of Alabama, which will somehow cost Doug Jones reelection and thus any chance of flipping the US Senate.
AOT,K
“They’re just playing n-dimensional chess that you dummies can’t understand because you aren’t on their level” is the lamest excuse for bad plot, characterization, narrative, politics, etc. ever. It’s been said over and over that D&D, once they left the source material behind, have fallen into really lazy fantasy…
1) they’re running for Veep or a good cabinet post
2) they’re running for some national name recognition to boost their standing in the Senate
3) this kind of casual handling of the importance of the office of the President absolutely disgusts me, as it’s a sign to me of deep institutional rot.
Came here for this. Every single person in that photo looks like the most hateful asshole you’ve ever met.
Hey, I guess publicly shaming people can encourage good behavior.
Was a bit skeptical of Jessica Chastain as the older Bev (my vote was for Amy Adams, but I guess that pairing was already done in Sharp Objects [which is itself a great showcase for Adams], so they wanted to avoid parallels), but she pulls it off amazingly well here.
Don’t worry. That Asshole is about midway through frontotemporal dementia. He won’t be able to do much of anything in another year or two.
flag and dismiss that racist asshole in the greys please.
The Daily Beast had a really good article last week about how this whole mess was not some Russian psych-out committed by criminal masterminds: it was something we did to ourselves.
1 “We can’t impeach now because it’ll die in the Senate”
2 It’ll die in the Senate because Senators’ reelection isn’t imperiled if they vote against impeachment.
3 Their reelection isn’t imperiled because their voters don’t support impeachment.
4 Because thus far they’ve only heard the GOP narrative, which is NO…
It’s scarier when you realize that, even taking the conservative estimate, 25% of the US population is over 80 million people. That’s comparable to the entire population of Germany.
A helpful FAQ on whether you should punch that Nazi:
There is a certain edifying clarity that comes from living in these, our fallen times: you begin to see that the country is riddled, mostly through its upper (not just tippy-top) classes, with borderline sociopaths, seething misogynists, neo-monarchists, high-key racists, and outright fascists.
Like Betsy DeVos and other rich fucks like her, they view these sorts of things with utter contempt. It’s just one more fly to bat aside while they get on with the real business of holding power, which is to loot the treasury and dismantle the arms of public governance.
note the director credits for the remaining episodes, courtesy of Wikipedia:
As exciting as the episode was to watch, its (many) weak points are just further evidence for me that the writing has gotten considerably weaker since they left the books behind. I very much expect this battle to go quite differently in the books.
