reading more comments on here, I now realise that 'coloured' IS In fact seen as hideously offensive. I stand corrected, and since I know better now I shall do better. I never use the term myself, but will endeavour to correct others too when/if I hear it used.

My mum and granny would use 'coloured' as a way of describing poc, and it's not seen as hideously offensive over here afaik.
