I used to work for well known and respected consumer goods company. Back in the day our sales reps would be negotiating with hookers that they’d hire for the buyers at major accounts. It was the 70s/80s mind you, but that stuff happened. I wonder if it’s any different today. Somehow I doubt it.

Sad that the name Laraine Newman didn’t also jump out at you. Also, (not that you would know this, but it’s an interesting side note) Rosie Shuster is the daughter of one of Canada’s best known and well loved comedians, Frank Shuster, and she was married to Lorne Michaels in the 70s.

I know! It’s crazy, right? When you think about it, when people pay taxes, where does the money go? It goes to the government. The government spends it on goods and services and payroll. The government employees spend the money they receive. It’s not like it goes into a vault and nobody benefits. This “trickle down”…

I have so much rage that the Republicans are willing to overlook ANYTHING in their lust for tax cuts, which, as an economic theory of stimulating growth, have proven to be particularly ineffective.

Danica Roem sounded to me like a person who knew the issues, knew what mattered to her constituents, worked hard on her campaign and is there for the idea of public service. God, what a terrible candidate she must have been.

I am a Canadian lawyer and we have a rule here that lawyers cannot serve on juries. The juror is supposed to approach the case with an open mind, weigh the evidence and proceed on the instructions of the judge. Having a legal background might be a distracting influence.

Is the pageant actually about bums? (Because I also wondered why they posed from the front.) There’s something called the “Boi Bumba” festival in Brazil (which I went to and which is fantastic), so I thought that maybe the BumBum pageant was confused with or part of that.

I’ve noticed that people in the UK (well, at least the lawyers there that I know) use “whilst” all the time.
