This isn’t new technology. My 2002 4Runner and my uncles 99 4Runner both can switch from 2WD, AWD and 4WD and back then they called it “multimode 4WD.” Companies have used this technology and I highly disagree with some of that YouTube videos explanation.

Jeep Cherokees debuted in 1987 with an NP242 transfer case that used an integrated center diff to give drivers the option of AWD or 4WD.

It’s how I win Gran Turismo races, so it must be legit :)
